Hey guys, I am having quite a problem. I set up my account and didn't get the confirmation email. I tried having it resent and I tried doing a password reset. I didn't get either of those emails either. I added the domain to my safe mailers list and have checked in my junk mail folder and it is still not there. It is a hotmail account if that is relevant. Please help me out...

Update: My email is working - I got the confirmation email from mozilla support in order to post the question. I still can't get the emails related to my firefox account.

I am trying to reset the password to login to firefox for sync and stuff. I haven't used it in a long time so I don't know what the password is exactly. I have tried a few different things I might have used. They all contain numbers and letters. I'm just a little confused as to the question. When I initially tried to make an account a few months ago it let me but didn't send the confirmation email. So I waited awhile hoping it was some glitch that would be fixed. I have even chatted with Microsoft to make sure it isn't a mail filter on their end and they have assured me that they haven't caused this. There is only one other time that this has happened and I never got a straight answer about it - I do have a small perhaps useless bit of information: if you go to demonoid.com and try to make an account they advise against using hotmail or yahoo accounts because there have been reports of missing confirmation letters also. So something is going on here, i just don't understand what it is.... I kind of need this to work so I can get everything synced with my Android Device and my PC. What other info can I provide to help?

Just use a different email address? Is that the only option? I hate having to do that because it means keeping track of another mailbox just for one account. Either way, I would really like to know WHY I am not getting these emails. Why are sites directing people to not use hotmail and yahoo accounts specifically? Or does my email just live in an internet black hole?

Preferably not using the hot mail domain to see if that's causing you to not get the confirmation email.

Just to see if that works.

Posting here on a weekend, especially jut a few days immediately prior to a Firefox release date makes it hard to get the attention of the people who work for Mozilla, who could look into this for you.

As far as Yahoo and Hotmail being not recommended by some websites; best to ask those websites about that self imposed recommendation. I just recall the advice that I was given as new user of the internet when communicating via email with a person that I was working on a project with back in 1999; "If you want to be taken seriously in the business world on the internet, don't communicate via Hotmail, AOL, or Yahoo email domains."

No "black hole", just that something is not allowing the email to get thru to you, or it's getting lost or misdirected on the receiving email server (Hotmail). At least IMO that's what's happening.

You wouldn't have to keep track of it, if you're not going to use it to send or receive mails.
But who knows:   it just might come in handy one day   ......
