You can drag-and-drop email messages from Thunderbird to any folder. To move more than one, try selecting them, then File|Save As or right-click and Save As.

This add-on:

…provides useful enhancements for exporting multiple messages into various formats.

I wonder what you mean by "my client's word perfect folder". Modern OSes provide ready-made folders for documents. I'm not sure why you would want a folder specific to a particular word processing application.

Sorry to seem stupid, but what is a "Word Perfect Folder" ? (No, I am not trying to show off how stupid you are :) its really the question at hand)

a) Word Perfect actually has a mailclient (which I never heard of) a1) -> you would need to check the WordpErfect support how to import data a2) Set up your emailprogramm to access the same account as your thunderbird client. This can be a bit tricky, depending on wether you use POP3 protocol to fetch your mail or use IMAP to fetch it. Easiest would be IMAP. Refer to the docs of the respective mailclients to learn how to connect to a mailaccount with IMAP access.

b) WordPerfect can import ".eml" files (which might be neat) So you would need the path to your profile (see http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/Find_Thunderbird_Profile_Dir.htm) or export the mail from thunderbird in "eml" Format.

c) You mean "Word Perfect -> File -> Open" Dialog ? (which I assume) That would be like trying to make an Spaghetti Bolognese with socks instead of pasta - because both are stored inside a cupboard in a drawer.

Folders in Thunderbird are only a way of organizing your mails to bring structure to chaos. Same as the filesystem on your computer does with your files or like a filing system in an office does with the pieces of paper. Not the way of organizing it or visualizing a structure is relevant, but where it is stored (Kitchenstuff in the kitchen) and in which format (like in my example: textile, pasta, paper, wood)

If you want to use the content, stored inside a mail i.E. the mail text) you either need to export it - or more easily - mark it and copy&paste the contents

If you want to use the wordperfect-file, attached to an email, you need to save the wordperfect-file to your regular filesystem first. You should refrain from doubleclicking on the attachment. That might work, but is a very bad habbit - securitywise.

Hope one of the answers met your situation ;)

Ah ha! That makes more sense of the original question.

My next question is why the OP would want to run two email clients yet share messages between them? ;-)

I'd suggest using IMAP to move email messages between email clients.
