all of a sudden can’t move anything in to my email Thunderbird trash folder . I get a message telling me to empty the folder then compact. That did not work ……please help ! And I am IT incompetent to boot.

Have you compacted the 'Inbox' folder ?

  • Right click on 'Inbox' folder and select 'Compact'

Wait until it has finished compacting before you select anything in the 'Inbox' folder.

Is the mail account set up as POP or IMAP ?

Thanks -I did what you said and still the same - it is POP and this is the message I get when I try to move inbox items to trash.....

The messages could not be moved or copied to folder 'Trash on amycjones@att.net' because writing to folder failed. To gain disk space, from the File menu, first choose Empty Trash, and then choose Compact Folders, and then try again.
