My up-to-date Firefox has broken something causing FF to crash. Need to use older version. Please stop update notices.

Just paid $150.00 for a remote session from my computer store. Advice is: My older computer (2004)and it's graphic capabilities aren't compatible with newest FF. So I'll stick with older version (9) until I decide to get new computer. Firefox is my preference, but if I update, it's likely to break again. Please tell me how to stop all update notices. It is maddening. Or, if you can do it, please do. I don't want to use the others. It has crashed twice, just FF, in the last few days. A system restore saved me, but I updated and lost it. Can you help this not wealthy person? I thank you for your fine product, and your help.

Keazen oplossing

For $150 you could've bought a used computer from 2014, to almost building a brand new low end one... Regardless. It's very unsafe to run such outdated hardware/software if you're actually browsing the web.

if you go to about:config in the url bar you can change time between checking for updates with these two policies

   app.update.interval => default of 43200 seconds is 12 hours
   app.update.download.backgroundInterval

You can also try changing app.update.channel to "default" [which should disable checking for updates]

The other method is setting a policy json

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
