FF 63.0 64-bit on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Sometimes the address field is extra long, pushing other controls off behind a 'more' button (for lack of better term!)

When this happens, it looks like this: <uploading screenshot_1.png>

From there, if I click on the "menu" (3 horizontally stacked bars at the far right) and from there select "Customize", then dismiss the resulting second tab, the display reverts to what it should be, like this: <uploading screenshot_2.png>

So far this appears to be random behavior on opening FF.

Hmm, I don't know why you get inconsistent results. However, if you aren't in love with the stretchy spacers to the left and right of the address bar/search bar, you could remove those in Customize and see whether it makes the bar layout more stable.

Note that you can also remove the 'flexible spaces' via the right-click context menu (Remove from Toolbar). You can consider to move the search bar to the overflow area to have more space for the toolbar and other toolbar items.

Thanks to both of you. I'll play around with that and see what happens.
