I have the latest Firefox which is set as my current default browser. The problem is that whenever I open some applications such Vegas Pro, Adobe Photoshop or Audition the browser (Firefox) starts up automatically at the same time.

My computer has been scanned with the latest Malwarebytes and AVG and it shows as clean. Can anyone advise on this strange behaviour.

Sounds like file association problem. Which was installed first FF Browser or Magix Vegas Video editor?

If I remember it was Vegas first. How do I disassociate the Vegas with Firefox.

Check with Magix Vegas video editing program support and ask if the default browser is supposed to open when their application is launched. And if so, ask it is is possible to set a different browser as the "default" for only their application.

AFAIK, there can be only one "default" browser set up within a Windows Logon User Account; and that is done thru Registry keys.

The problem happens with various other applications also. Wonder if completely uninstalling Firefox with Revo and reinstalling might help in resolving the problem? The thing is even if I make another browser the default one the problem happens the same. Basically any browser I make the default will have the same issues. Very weird behaviour. Can you point me to a tutorial link to edit the registry, if that helps.

If it is happening with other applications, my guess is that how it's supposed to work. And if you want to change it for one application, probably best to ask support for that application

I can't help you with editing the Windows Registry or referrals to suitable Windows support articles for such. I haven't done that myself since the days of Win95/98/ME. The NT versions of Windows (W2K, WinXP, etc) never brought about the "need" for me to go in and poke around the Registry; along with never having to reinstall Windows every so often.
