A few weeks ago the Google account drop down options [logout etc] all disappeared, when I click any of the icons at the top [user etc] only an arrow appears under it. The only way I can logout is to go to Firefox settings and clear history. I've tried everything I can think of,right down to a reinstall of Windows, but it's still exactly the same. Also this morning, suddenly Gmail is now getting the 'no secure connection' message, the only way around that is to turn off the 'Enable HTTPS scanning' option in Avast [which isn't a good option,it's supposed to be an added security risk without that enabled] Every other website is fine,it's only Gmail getting this. None of these problems exist in Internet Explorer or Chrome...it's only Firefox. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix these issues? Thanks

Thanks for the replies. After trying a lot of the suggestions here and other things,I discovered there must have been some kind of malware/spyware/whatever when I found that something was preventing the updating of SuperAntiSpyware definitions. None of the security scans I tried [Malwarebytes,SuperAntiSpyware, adwcleaner,HitmanPro,Avast] ever found anything though,so I just reinstalled Windows again and it's now back to normal. The other culprit seems to be Ublock extension,if that is enabled on the Google Search page, which is my FF home page,I still only get that little arrow under the Google options drop down things...as soon as I disable Ublock, the drop down options are back as normal. Although it's fine in Gmail, and every other website with Ublock enabled. Anyway,it's fixed now I think. Thanks

There is security software like Avast/AVG, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate. If you are running any of the above software please their their community forum for a work around to apply settings.

These pages are also for the errors you may have besides relating to the above.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi,thanks for the reply. As I said in the post I've turned off the 'Enable HTTPS scanning' option in Avast which fixes that 'secure connection' issue. [although it's not a great option security-wise]

Also I just did another 'Reset' of Firefox and the Google issues seem to be fixed now as well...which is kind of strange because I reset Firefox a couple of days ago and even reinstalled Windows itself and nothing changed then.

Hmm,ok the problem came back as soon as I installed and enabled Ublock...this must be what is causing it I think. I'll just disable it on Google sites and see what happens. Anyway,it's fine for now! Cheers

Security software like AVG or Avast may have a problem with TLS 1.3 that might have been enabled in your Firefox version. You can try to modify the value this pref from 4 to 3 on the about:config page.

  • security.tls.version.max = 3

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
