Note that Waterfox isn't an official Mozilla release and you would have to contact Waterfox for support.

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie. When you lose these cookies then the website forgets about you and you will have to login again. You can check the settings in "Clear history when Firefox closes" to see if you keep cookies and Site Preferences.

If you no longer see any items in the Password Manager then this would suggest an problem with the logins.json and key3.db files in the profile folder or that an extension is possibly malfunctioning.

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of these files available.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/febe/ FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension)

FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

ok for now installed the FEBE still need to know should i remove the corrupted logons? is this something i should uninstall an reinstall? dont want to have to constantly go through logging out logging in to sites to get stuff saved to browser got so much going on its hard to remember all the logons an pw'ds

The first file you listed is very recent.

  • logins.json-2.corrupt 7/28/2017 3:12am

It might be worth to check this file a a text editor to see in what way the file is corrupted. Files shouldn't get corrupted under normal use. This logins.json file should be a plain text file that consists of one long line without any line breaks. You can also open/drag the file in a Firefox tab to see if the built-in JSON viewer recognizes this file as valid JSON code.

ok after a bit i got it open with word pad but i cant make any sense of the half of it i do see things in it like site names an log in but password iw under encrypted an then reams of gibberish but i dont see anything hugely obvious

more options

What do you see if you open this file in a Firefox tab if you append another.json file extension?

  • logins.json-2.corrupt.json

The name and password fields are encrypted, but the file structure should be consistent.

The devtools.jsonview.enabled preference should be set to true (default) on the about:config page to make Firefox use a builtin JSON viewer.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

That item got created at this time: 1501185301360 = Thu 27 Jul 2017 19:55:01 GMT

If the file only contains what shows in the screenshot then the file id definitely corrupted. "nextId":14 would suggest 13 items in the file.

What security software do you have?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

The file in that last screenshot looks OK to me.

Does Firefox process the JSON code and show the JSON viewer if you rename the file and add a .json file extension like I wrote above?

It is possible that there is a problem with the key3.db file, so maybe try to rename this file as a test.

well as i said, that is open in the browser in the screen shot i dont know anything about the key3.db its why im here asking for guidance to find the problem, LOL

i deleted the corrupted files last night an saved one login to it an used the FEBE just in case to back it up today between power shutdowns by the power co. depowering the lines due to fires in the snake river canyon i was able to check the saved passswords an logins page it was there (the one i saved) i dont know if FEBE automatically replaced it without notification but ill take it as a positive for now
