Your new update has just disabled 80% of my add on's thank you very much. I guess its time to switch browsers. Not a lot of thought went into this did it great customer service once again is lacking.

Once again thank you for your concern about delivering service to your once loyal customer

hello pb1316, which addons is it affecting? could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum... thank you!

If you have been running Firefox for several years, it's also possible that your extensions are set not to update automatically (this used to be a separate setting from application updates). To manually check for extension updates, open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, above the list on the right side, click the "gear" button > Check for Updates.

I have been using FFox since it came out and I have add on updates set. The new version that just came out eliminated most of my add on's. Received notice from Mozilla that these updates are no longer compatible. Now I either have to wait for each add on to comply with the new version source code or in my case just forget about Fire fox and move on with IE.

Did you skip over numerous versions? It's pretty rare to have a large number of extensions disabled for a one version update.

If you decide that you want to continue using Firefox, can you extract the list philipp mentioned in his earlier post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1035435#answer-662938

Or in more detail:

Open the support info page using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the upper left corner, click "Copy text to clipboard"

In a reply, paste, then scroll down to Important Modified Preferences and delete the rest of the information. This should leave just the basic information and extensions list.

I had this problem too. I downloaded and re-installed 35.01. That didn't re-enable my add-ons. Firefox re-updated itself and I re-installed my add-ons. It works now.

Hi JaySee5, were your add-ons disabled (and unable to be enabled) or completely removed? I guess whichever one it was, if it happens again, you could start a new question since the details probably are different from this old question.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.

If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.

Yes, they were all disabled and unable to enable. Seems to be a bug in 36.0 installation.
