firefox stpped responding then second time it came up home paged no longer worked

i down loaded Firefox on Linux peppermint, the first time i used it at some point it stepped responding. Then I restarted fire and nothing on the homepage works. I need to put google.com in address bar to do a search. tried to uninstall Firefox and reinstall same problem
