I close out Firefox and a sign still comes up saying it's open and won't let me open anything else. In task manager it is not open even when the sign says so.

The task manager does not show that a Firefox window is open but it will not let me do anything more until I shut down my computer. It's a real hassle to have to do that so often and wait for everything to load again and again

This may mean the Task Manager is "lying" and could indicate a OS malware issue. These dedicated security forums would be helpful:
