Duplicate Tab Max is no longer installed on reboot

When the xpi file for Duplicate Tab Max Version 99.0 is dragged and dropped onto Firefox (10.0.2, on WinXP SP3) it works great until the computer is rebooted and then it is found to be no longer installed on Firefox. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization features that can cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

I use Blink Personal. But this extension is the only one of all my extensions that has ever had this behavior. Duplicate Tab 1.0.2c, no longer compatible with the current versions of Firefox, never had this problem.
