Why is Firefox reloading local html file in new tab when file changes?

I'm editing an html file in a text editor and viewing it in Firefox. Whenever I save an update to the file, Firefox opens another copy of the file in a new tab. It used to only update when I clicked the reload button. I must have accidentally changed a setting, but I can't figure out how to stop this behavior.

Did you check the settings in the editor to make sure that you are saving the file and not have selected to preview in the default browser?
