certicate test fails on valid websites.

KevinBarrett

Sometimes the certificate test fails on perfectly valid websites. Kenyan government websites are an example e.g. the immigration services site: fns.immigration.go.ke

You then offer no option other than 'try again', which of course fails again. No further access is permitted by Firefox Focus. Yet, I still must access the site (I legally must access immigration services through the site), which is actually valid, so have to switch browser. Thus the certificate test ultimately is actually not achieving anything.

This is far from the only site that this happens with. I have had renowned restaurants, coach companies, etc all fail your test, yet they have valid websites. It is a frequent issue.

I feel either substantial tweaking of the test may be needed. Or abandon it altogether. Every time Firefox Focus throws up this issue it refuses to go further and I am obliged to use another browser.

Focus on iOS doesn't handle any certificate trust — that's provided by your device. It has basically the same networking logic no matter which browser you use, so it would be interesting to get different results in different browsers (save for some mutual–TLS specifics via custom certs stored in the system keychain, which I assume is not this case).

Do you have a screenshot of the error, and also of the same site open in a different browser on the same device?
