Following the lockup I had duplicate entries, I had gotten response from one of the "help" volunteers, "repair" of local folder did eliminate duplicates.

I have my thunderbird set up to be able to view three (was ATT.net) yahoo accounts bpetic@att.net - primary(in folder Mail/ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net) bpetic3@att.net - (in folder Mail/ipostoffice.worldnet.att-1.net) and bpetic4@att.net - (in folder Mail/ipostoffice.worldnet.att-2.net)

Since I normally only view bpetic@att.net, Inbox/local folder and Inbox/bpetic@att.net were one and the same (I never looked at folder details)

After lockup three additional folders appeared in my left margin - bpetic@att.net, bpetic3@att.net, bpetic4@att.net all displaying in bold face with envelope icon with lock.

settings appear to be duplicate information of settings in "inbox" Any idea how these got created and can they safely be eliminated?
