copied profile does not work

I copied my profile before restoring my computer...Windows 7... Now after loading Thunderbird, I copied the profile into a folder with the new default name, but it does not work. The old contents look completely different than the folders and files in the new profile folder. The old profile contained folders named Cache, Cache2, Cache.Trash, safebrowsing, and startupCache. What went wrong? Can I recover my data? Thanks, CJ

On Windows, there are profile files in two places, some under Local and the rest under Roaming. You need those in Roaming but I fear those files you name came from Local.
