Thunderbird repeatedly freezes

I am using a laptop w/W8.1. Recently Tbird repeatedly freezes and even if I reboot it often does not fix the problem. Freezes seem to be random and not tied to any particular action. More annoying than dangerous.

Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode

Does problem go away?

Thanks. I looked at version after I sent Q. Saw I was not in V38.3.0 so I updated or Tbird updated auto. Anyway prob went away after 38.3.0 installed.
