Input settings for sending mail to server. They do not hold, default is reset. Fix, please, so TB plays nice with Google.

When I input in, 'Account settings, Copies & folders, ' into, 'Place a copy in' : Sent folder - & choose, 'local folder', as the destination.

Thunderbird does not hold this setting, but reverts to the email address, as the destination to place the copy in, when it is reopened. Please patch this behavior, it is not needed with Gmail & gives false error messages.

(As, in Gmail the server puts a copy in the 'sent mail', folder, on the server, so it won't let you do this from Thunderbird)

Thanks, DRN

Thanks Matt, Think it is the pref.js file being reset. I like to keep a local copy of message, which is backed-up, so prob bit overkill. Have set not to wipe change. So, thanks again, impressed by speed & logic :)

actually I would just set Thunderbird to non save a copy aqt all. But if the setting is not staying set between sessions there are only two causes. Thunderbird suffers a shut down hang. You get Thunderbird is running errors when you restart the program if this is the case. Or something is blocking or replacing the prefs.js file.

ccLeaner has been known to do this, as have some anti virus programs and some corporate networks that revert setting to a known good state on each reboot to stop staff changing from the corporate standards.
