[Locale Leaders] Maximum fun, minimum hassle - tell me what you think

  1. Hey there, L10ns of SUMO!

It would be good to figure out a list of necessary and useful tasks for Locale Leaders, so that we can optimize them and automate as much as possible in the future.

Below is a starting list - please let me know what you think. Maybe something is in the wrong category, should not be there at all, or is actually missing.

The deadline for feedback is 1st November.

For maximum fun and minimum hassle, Locale Leaders should:

    1. Subscribe to the locale leader mailing list
    2. Subscribe to the updates in the locale thread for your locale
    3. Once a month, review and update the localizer team information for your locale - use this template
    4. Localize and maintain the central l10n documentation in your locale, starting with this collection of pages
    5. Create a style guide for your locale
    6. Review at least 2 articles awaiting review per week
    7. Update the SUMO l10n milestone sheet for your locale when necessary

Locale Leaders are also invited to:

    1. Subscribe to the updates in the general l10n forum
    2. Join the #sumo channel on irc.mozilla.org
    3. Join the #sumo-l10ns channel on irc.mozilla.org
    4. Subscribe to the global l10n mailing list
    5. Help organize two Mozilla l10n events in the region per year

  2. Hi.

As you speak about automation, it would be nice to have points 1, 2 from the first list and 1, 4 from the second, generally all discussion subscriptions, done automatically as a part of becoming locale leader on SUMO - when you are locale leader, you are in the same moment automatically added to those lists and threads.

For the others, there could kindly be mentioned in weekly e-mails in the list in an appropriate frequency (e.g. team status sheet once per month, IRC and l10n events once per quarter, etc.).

From my point of view, the reminders are aaalmost nor necessary, as I already have periodic reminders in my calendar, but can be nice for newbie leaders. :)

    Some more notes:

    • Point 4 (localize How to start l10n article) from the first list is also on the milestone sheet.
    • Point 6 (review articles) from the first list should be reminded by the "SUMO needs your help" e-mail, when there are some articles waiting review.
