Canned responses on Army of Awesome

  1. This week we moved our Army of Awesome canned responses to code, which means that localizers will be able to easily localize them. I'd like to take the opportunity to discuss once again the current snippets, and whether they still make sense. This goes out to heavy users of AoA specifically. Do you think the current snippets are enough? Are some missing, do we have snippets that are not needed?

You can see the current tweets here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Army_of_Awesome/Signposts#Support

  2. Localized snippets make only sense, if the tweet stream can be (post)filtered for a given locale. Same situation as in the case of the Questions stream.

  3. Yes, unfortunately we can only support those locales that Twitter has already on their supported list, we don't do the filtering on our side.

  4. Hi Kadir,

I took a look at the canned responses last quarter, here are some nits that should be updated:

    1. Welcome and Thanks

    We're a non-profit organization

@username hey, I'm a Mozilla volunteer. Did you know there are 1000s of us worldwide? More here http://mzl.la/cvlwvd #fxhelp

ml-1: link above is no longer valid, should point to http://www.mozilla.org/about/mission.html (or the old page should redirect to the new one)

    2. Using Firefox

    Firefox Panorama

heard about Firefox Panorama? It groups + displays your tabs, eliminating clutter. Try it http://mzl.la/d21MyY

ml-2: the link doesn't seem like it makes sense now, there is a description of Panorama on the page, but not sure if that is what was intended.

    3. Support

    Fix crashes

sorry your Firefox is hanging Here are quick fixes to prevent this again http://mzl.la/atSsFt #fxhelp

ml-3: suggest that we just change 'hanging' to crashing above just to be consistent, but maybe we used the word hanging on purpose?

I also have a request for arabic hashtags from a contributor I met at Mozcamp EU.

    Thanks, -Michelle

  5. Thanks, Michelle. I'll collect a bit more, and next week we can batch process all of these. If anyone else has more input, let me know, please.

    1. which version of Firefox are you using? (i use this word 6.023x10^23 times on army of awesome)
    2. start Firefox with safe mode and check one of Extension are causing the issue or not with safe mode kb url
    3. create a new profile, backup and restore old profile with kb link

also i think all of kb url need to change since they are support.mozilla.com url..but we are now support.mozilla.org

    Thanks Swarnava

  7. The link target changes can probably be taken care of without any code changes on our end. I assume anybody with access to our bit.ly/mzl.la account could update those. It would be awesome to finally activate the AoA banner for those too by adding `?ref=aoa` to the urls. For example: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/javascript?ref=aoa

  8. unfortunately we let bit.ly handle the domain AFAIK, and they don't allow changes to the target. Makes sense in some way, you could distribute a url far and wide and then change it to a spam link. Addind the referrer is a great idea.

  9. Are there are any more suggestions? If not, I'd compile that today and get it in so, we can push it next week. And of course we can keep changing them afterwards, just ask here or file a bug.
