I can't import my old bookmarks into Firefox because of an "Unresponsive Script".

I just completed a "clean install" of Windows 7 on my computer; When I attempt to restore my old bookmarks to Firefox, I keep getting the following message: "Unresponsive Script , Chrome://browser/content/browser.js6500" (also 6513,6526)

I never used or installed Google Chrome on my computer! This script is freezes the entire page and is preventing me from restoring my bookmarks. Can anyone please help?

Did you save the bookmarks in the HTML format?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its own internal files and also access files from extensions (no connection with Google Chrome).

Does this happen when you restore a JSON backup?

How large is this file and does its name include an item count?

Is the file a compressed .jsonlz4 file or a normal .json backup?

If you have an HTML backup or a copy of the places.sqlite file then you could use these instead.

Maybe consider to disable this protective feature and see if you can continue the script and finish the restore. This will block Firefox, so best is to try this when you have spare time (e.g. overnight).

You can temporarily set this pref to 0 on the about:config page to allow the script to continue.
