I tried to move the Profile(s) from my old Win 10 PC to a new Win 11 PC... Did not go well. I have all primary folders showing, but over half do not display messages even though properties show there is varied amounts of data in the folders. Nearly ALL Sub Folders do Not display even though the .sbd folders show up in the profiles. I have search your files for methods to recover messages, display folders, transfer files, raise the dead and after life experiences. Nothing seems to work. I have gone into the 'file' portion of the folders list, not .MSF File, with NotePad and can see email data. I am at the point of trying to find a way to move this data over into TB messages, but not sure how to go about that. I am seeing the same thing on both computers Win10 and Win11 as described above - the folders that show data seem to be the first 10 or so and then nothing after that. I can only think I cut the first transfer attempt short before every thing was moved.. No idea really what is happening. If I have a new message I want to save to one of the Main Folders, that do not show messages, I can see the data count increase, but the newly moved message does not show up in the Folder I moved it to. If I make a new Sub Folder under the Main Folder, and move the new message to it... it shows up and the sub Folder shows up like it should. I need some guidance on how to recover the messages because some of them are important.. I've read the original query from romanroad (4/23/24) and the replies, which related to Gmail. I have the same problem but with a slightly different set-up, which those replies don't cover. My query relates to Thunderbird 128.5.1esr (64-bit) using IMAP to link with Outlook emails. A reply from sfhowes - 4/24/24, 10:26 AM said [with my numbering] [1] "Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe..., uncheck the Sent folder and check the Sent Mail folder." [2] "Also, make the change in Copies & Folders in Account Settings

re [1] When I Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe..., I can uncheck the Sent folder BUT there is no Sent Mail folder. (Folders are Archive, Deleted (with subfolder POP), Drafts, INBOX, Junk, Notes, Outbox and Sent [as well as 3 personal folders].) Both Outbox and Sent were checked. If I uncheck the Sent box, leaving Outbox checked, the Sent folder empties completely; if I then check it again, it refills all the sent messages from years back (presumably from Outlook because of IMAP.) re [2] In Account Settings I had unchecked the "Place a copy in:" option - but am still getting duplicates. I do want a copy of what I have sent - just not two of everything.

The title describes the problem. This is an old problem that seems to be triggered by something embedded in the email. Other emails print to PDF or the actual printer without a problem. For security reasons, I cannot attach the email in question as it involves money and account identification.

The email is a credit card reward certificate from Costco and generated by Citibank in case someone else has reported this specific problem.

Desktop PC running latest Thunderbird and Firefox. Started Thunderbird, instead of the usual tabs opening, it appears to have forgotten my accounts, asks for my email address, i.e. starting from scratch again. Starting Firefox, all previously-open tabs have gone, though bookmarks are all there.

Has there been some update which has wiped or reset Mozilla data? Yes, obviously I can go through setting up Thunderbird again but that will take quite some time and yes, I can use Firefox but many of the tabs I had open were there for a reason and it will take a while to find them all again.

Is there any way that the previous state can be recovered? My laptop has both applications running fine and I have paused Windows updates for a week, just in case the latest update caused this. Thank you.

Please tell me how I can remove this message. I have never seen it before and now I cannot read e-mails after 8/2/25 (I have been away for a few days).

I have tried to send myself a test message today but it will not go. I have tried cleaning out my mail server mailboxes but this has no effect. Running anti-virus software has no effect either.

Can't launch Thunderbird on one Mac user account

I use Thunderbird on two user IDs on the same Mac, which is running macOS 15.3.1.

I usually run Thunderbird updates on user 1, but this time I ran the it (to 128.7.0esr) on account 2, and I can no longer launch it on user 2. (Note: Neither user is an admin account.)

Steps: 1. On user 2, launch Thunderbird. 2. Get the dialog that there's an update to 128.7.0esr. 3. Click the Restart to update button. 4. Get the dialog that there's an update to 128.7.0esr. 5. Click the Restart to update button. 6. Get the dialog to enter admin ID and password for installing the Thunderbird helper. 7. Enter the admin ID and password and click OK. 8. Get a (surprise) dialog to authorize Thunderbird to discover my devices. 9. I choose to deny.

Expected result: Thunderbird relaunches, now with 128.7.0esr. Actual result: Get the dialog to enter admin ID and password for installing the Thunderbird helper.

10. Log off user 2 and log on to user 1. 11. Download 128.7.0esr from the Mozilla website. 12. Check the hash. 13. Install, choosing to replace the old Thunderbird in the shared Applications folder. 14. System Settings, About, System report, Applications 15. Verify the signature is signed by Mozilla 16. Launch Thunderbird

Expected and actual result: Thunderbird launches and I can use it normally.

17. Log out of user 1 and log into user 2. 18. Launch Thunderbird

Expected result: Thunderbird launches and I can use it normally. Actual result: Get the dialog to enter admin ID and password for installing the Thunderbird helper.

I'm guessing there's some manner of residual file that's preventing Thunderbird from launching on user 2. I've verified Thunderbird is in the system's Application folder and not in user 1's files.

How do I clear the pending install from user 2 so that Thunderbird will launch for user 2?

During the setup when I clicked on "Re-test", a green notice "The following settings were found..." Then I clicked on "Done" and I get a yellow notice "Unable to log in..." I repeated the "Re-test" and still, the green notice came up, clicked on "Done" and the yellow notice came up, as if it is in a endless loop.

Error message image (screenshot) defines the issue, how do I fix this?


I was never prompt for a password. Which is why no email was loaded for viewing. I am using 0Auth2 for password access. Thunderbird version 128.7.0esr (64-bit) Ubuntu version 24.04.2 LTS

Emails in two of my inboxes (maybe all four) are randomly disappearing. None of my email templates are showing up in either of my two template folders. This started two days ago and I cannot figure it out. Emails get downloaded, then some are just vanish but are still on the servers. Repairing the folders does nothing, but folder properties on my template folders show the number of messages that should be there. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Is there any way to get Thunderbird to show ICS files? Right now it just shows the contents as unusable trash in the email body.

Before anyone says it, toggling 'Display attachments inline' doesn't do anything. Enabling a calendar in Thunderbird allows the 'accept' etc buttons, but then I have to deal with the headache of a calendar in Thunderbird and still doesn't show the ICS file so I can use it with my actual calendar app.

When I create a calendar event, it will not show up in the calendar view (Month), even after trying several times. What I found is, it will only show up on the calendar if I uncheck the Notify Attendees box at the bottom, which is by default always checked. After I uncheck the Notify attendees box on an event, that event, and each successive event will then show up on the calendar, regardless if I have the Notify attendees box checked or unchecked. I looked to see if I can uncheck this box in Settings, but do not see where this can be done.

Is there a way to have the Notify attendees box unchecked by default when I create a new calendar event?

I use an extension called FiltaQuilla that allowed me to create a filter like so: Folder name is Joe Blow Age in days is >30 Move message to Joe Blow in Local Folders

This allowed me to move older messages to an equivalent folder in Local Folders to keep from using up IMAP space. At some point, this silently stopped working. Now, nothing happens when I run my filters on the IMAP folders. The >30 day old emails remain in that folder.

I'm guessing it's an issue with FiltaQuilla, and probably needs to be asked of them. But that brings up a new question: has this ability been integrated into Thunderbird recently? Is there another way I can do this without an extension?

Hello, We have problem with sending and receiving e-mails. Sometimes Thunderbird just stops receiving e-mails. We can send messages but they can be saved only in local folder. In browser e-mails arrive and we can send them without any problems so it has to be some problem with Thunderbird. We were trying a lot of solutions, but only one works - creating new profile. It is very time-consuming solution, because we have to copy all e-mails, contacts, user settings, etc and we have to create a new profile couple times in a month... We were trying to off our antyvirus, forget password, etc. Probably there is some problem with certificates, but we do not know how to fix it. We use IMAP. Let me know what we can do to solve this problem, because creating new profiles is too tiring... :(

I am on a MacBook M1 using Sequoia v15.3.1, running Thunderbird v128.7. I have been through many of the forums and also done Google searches, but have not been able to find a way to search for events in the calendar. When I am in the calendar and type a query into the search field, it will only search in messages. I have not found anything in settings that allows me to change this nor have I found any options available on the screen for searching only calendar events. I know there has to be a way that I am just not seeing. Also, there seem to be different options in view on the Windows version than in the Mac version and many of the solutions call for accessing a button or command that I don't see in the Mac version.
