Hi,

I put some messages into folders yesterday and then created another folder and dragged the first folder into it to become a subfolder.

When I did this, I saw the new folder but it couldn’t be expanded to show the subfolders.

All other mail clients showed the correct hierarchy except Thunderbird.

Why is this happening?

Secondly, I post comments on the thunderbird blog regularly but they never show up. Where are they disappearing to? Are you receiving them?

Read Aloud is not producing sound in Thunderbird 128.7.1esr (64-bit), Windows 11 Pro. The app does highlight the text it is reading and progresses through the email, but there is no sound. I have checked various voices and tried to sound test the Piper voices. No luck. Windows Narrator (not ideal) will read the emails. I have checked every sound setting I can think of several times. I contacted Read Aloud support and they were unable to resolve my issue; they did confirm it worked in their Thunderbird app.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

bold textover the past week several times my Thunderbird does not show any emails from 7 or 9 pm until the following am. I know, from accessing through aol that there were many messages that are completely missing. In addition, several important emails from different dates in Feb are also missing although because they were sent to multiple others, i received notice of them. Why is this happening. I cannot loose clients because I did not receive messages!!

I discovered that a regular email newsletter I used to receive had stopped some time ago and it took ma ages to discover that probably it is classified as junk. I do not have the original to undo the junk setting with. I do not receive any messages from that source and I'm struggling to get junk filter to unlearn that wrong classification. How can I do this?

Background I wanted to give Thunderbird a shot because I really, really got tired of Outlook and their shenanigans. About 2 months ago, I tried it a first time and had an issue that prevented me from sending emails from my Hotmail email accounts. I gave up after a week of troubleshooting.

Outlook has come up with more bugs and shenanigans, so I tried again, convinced that there had to be a solution. And I found one. If anyone is interested, I was getting the error "Login to server outlook.office365.com with username <...> failed", and the way I fixed it was by replacing "hotmail.com" with "outlook.com" in the server settings. However, not all is fixed yet.

Current problem I noticed that the messages in my Outlook mail (other than the inbox) are not syncing properly. When I start TB, it appears to sync folders because I have seen new emails in subfolders already. However, if new emails come in while TB is open, it only syncs them if they are in my inbox.

I have looked around already and found that when I right-click that email account and I choose "Subscribe...", it presents me with an empty list and I can't see or enable/disable any folder subscriptions (refresh does nothing). This is strange because of 2 reasons: 1. All my subfolders are there, and they seem to sync when I start up TB. But even if I immediately open the subscribe window, the list is empty. 2. I have a total of 4 email accounts configured, 2 Outlook and 2 Gmail. All except for 1 Outlook account show me the list of folders in the subscribe window, so that made me think it was something in my Outlook account settings. However, nothing I can find there seems to be helpful.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I'd rather not close and re-open my TB app each time I want to check for new messages. I really want to give TB an honest chance but it's not making it easy for me to like it right now.

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've been archiving my e-mail on my Synology NAS for a number of years now. However, my W10 desktop computer died last year and I've had to reinstall Thunderbird on a new W11 PC. I want to get access to all the archived e-mails on my NAS, that is, as they used to appear in Thunderbird under local folders year-by-year. I also want to be able to archive more recent e-mails to the same location. That is, I want to re-establish the same archiving process I had previously, complete with access to the old archives. I've tried to set up the same file path to the NAS under Local Folders in Thunderbird (as far as I can remember - I might not have it correct) but the old archives don't appear. in an attempt to identify the correct file path on the NAS, I've tried to archive a recent message as a test so I can see where it is stored - in Thunderbird the year folder appears under the NAS location under local folders as expected and I can see the message in the message window so it seems to be working but I can't see any new folders or files on the NAS - nothing modified or created with today's date. When using Thunderbird mailbox mail merge plug-in, it always shows: Your email has been sent, but due to network or file access errors, the copy could not be placed in the outgoing backup folder (sent). Since the last update of Thunderbird, my mouse is showing a zoom-in icon when attemping to go to an interent link in a mail, rather than the normal "hand" icon for accessing a link. I basically cannot get to the majority of links in my incoming mail now.

I never used conversation panel and I use Thunderbird since many years just for my e-mails. How can I close the conversation panel and get access to my e-mail. I having the issue, more or less permanently, that Thunderbirds crashes all the time during my normal working hours. Never mind if running in troubleshoot mode or default. I already created:

a) Created the IMAP Files new b) Cache relocation to RAM c) Profile is running on an NVME d) deactivated add-on e) many other things I tried.....

It happens out of a sudden, it just crashes - for 10 - 30 seconds and continues to work. Sometimes 4-5x per hour and then only once on one day. I have no idea anymore. Can I not create a crash report and share it here somehow?

On weird thing. I copied the profile to my second Personalcomputer, a windows 11 machine and with the same profile and settings - Thunderbird does not crash, it was running for days with my Thunderbird Linux profile. Working with Windows is no solution - it was just for the purpose of testing.

We followed the instructions Encrypt emails with Thunderbird and GPG | Bacardi55's Web Cave and GPG Keys Management :: Fedora Docs which as I said results in my other system working as intended.

Could the non-working system be missing a package or a pointer set incorrectly? GPG and GPGME are installed. Keys are configured.

I have an issue where the "Date" and "Received" columns (in my Inbox) always show the same exact date/time even when the message source shows a different date/time for the "Date:" header verses the "Received:" header.

I know this has been asked before, but the suggestion of adding "Received" (without the quotes) to mailnews.customDBHeaders, restarting, and then repairing a folder did not work for me. I am on build 128.7.1esr (64-bit).

For example, I emailed a message to myself, selected to send later, waited a few minutes, then released it from the Outbox. When the email came in, it showed "2/23/2025, 11:27 AM" for both the "Date" and the "Received" columns. If I view the email source (some data removed for clarity) I see:

From above, the "Date:" header has "Sun, 23 Feb 2025 11:27:45 -0500" which is correctly displayed in the Date column as "2/23/2025, 11:27 AM" however, the latest "Received:" header has "Sun, 23 Feb 2025 16:32:18 +0000" (which is 11:32 AM Eastern) but the Received column shows the time as 11:27 AM instead of 11:32 AM.

Might anyone have a thought as to why I can't get Thunderbird to show the correct Received date/time?

Background - my old (selfhosted IMAP) server died, I was able to recover the Maildir but for whatever reasons both dovecot and courier ignore the "message read" metadata embedded in the filenames so the local copy in Thunderbird is suddenly the most authoritative.

But every time I try to bulk copy from the old account to local folders or to my new server it fails because it tries to contact the dead server.

Looking for ways to attack this problem

But nowhere in the process have I been asked to create a new password, and no indication of what password has been rest.
