Cannot save google preferences

When I try to save Google preferences I get this message:

404. That’s an error.

The requested URL /setprefs?sig=0_irbcJaWEBsppgOrRp5Nbgf4mCV0%3D&hl=en&uulo=0&muul=4_20&luul=&safeui=off&suggon=2&num=100&q=&prev=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.nz%2Fadvanced_search%3Fhl%3Den&submit2=Save+Preferences+ was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

This started when they introduced Google Instant. I have to use IE if I want to use Google at the moment.
