Firefox on iOS, all links open in private browsing

For the past few weeks, every link I click across all apps other than Firefox (which is set as the default browser on my phone) opens in private browsing mode. Even if Firefox is open and currently in regular browsing mode, the link opens as private. The only time it does not do this is if, in Firefox normal browsing, I click a link - then it opens in a new tab in normal mode.

I've read the Private Browsing on Firefox for Android. It's not helpful because iOS does not have the option to always open links in private browsing.
