So, in Windows 10, I download Mozilla Thunderbird, setup 2 of my verizon.net accounts. The first one is ok. Both pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net work perfect to send and receive email. The first account is also good on my Android Aqua Email Client.

However my 2nd verizon.net account, in Windows 10, I'm good with pop.verizon.net for receiving but get "Login to server smtp.verizon.net with username failed." On my Android Aqua Email Client, I can't get either pop or smtp to work.

What a piece of crap verizon aol email is. Aol has also been spamming alot of good email. I'm thinking of switching to gmail.

Any ideas.

Dave

Is the 2nd account sending on an smtp with the User Name of the 1st account, or an smtp with the User Name of the 2nd account? Select an account in the left pane of Account Settings and check Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the right pane. Click Edit SMTP server... to view the smtp settings.

Note also that Verizon/AOL accounts in TB require app passwords:

I had this problem earlier today and solved it.

Earlier today, I had activated two-factor verification and required a code to be sent to my cell phone when I signed into my aol account. Apparently, two-factor security doesn't work with Thunderbird and AOL SMTP, because I had no problems sending messages after I de-activated two-factor security.

I thought this might be a problem because each time I tried to send a message from TB, I received a message from AOL with the subject line "Sign in attempt prevented".
