2 simultanious homepages with gmail no longer loading properly.

Until just recently I was able to have 2 gmail pages/tabs open simultaneously as part of my home pages. One was my regular "name@gmail.com" account while the other was "name@ieee.org". I had this setup as my homepage and when firefox opened it would automatically load both pages and sign in. Now (last 2 weeks) not only it doesn't do that anymore it also forgets the @ieee.org page and when I manage to logged into both pages simultaneously I eventually get a message saying "You have been signed out of this account. This may have happened automatically because another user signed in from the same browser. To continue using this account, you will need to sign in again. This is done to protect your account and to ensure the privacy of your information"

How do I change this back to the way it was?

This is a Gmail (Google) feature to be able to have two accounts open at the same time and not a Firefox feature. I don't know if Google has made changes to the way this works, so you can check that in the Gmail settings.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

  • check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

You can clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
