I've been trying to restore my bookmarks after losing them with a Firefox restore. I click on the bookmarks button, then click Show all bookmarks, then nothing. It doesn't do anything at all, just goes back to the bookmarks button. I really need the bookmarks restored as they are very important to my work. Also, when I try to do anything with bookmarkbackups, I keep getting a message saying that the file extension doesn't exist, and the file therefore cannot be opened. I'm at a total loss, and wish I had left things as they were even though Firefox had become so slow, that several times I was getting my searches timed out. At least I had everything I had saved. Now even the search bar isn't working properly. Can I go back to the older version?????

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Enter the bookmarkbackups folder. This is where Firefox makes backups of your bookmarks. Look for the jsonlz4 file you want to restore (check the time / date / size). Right click on that file and select Copy. Now go back to the profile folder where you started. Rename the file places.sqlite by adding .old to it. Now right click in the folder and select Paste. The file you just pasted here, rename it to places.sqlite. After you are done, restart Firefox.
