Automatically fill in credit card and payment method data on Web forms

Firefox lets you automatically fill in saved credit and debit card information on web forms, making online checkouts faster and more convenient. Starting with Firefox version 135, this feature is available globally. Your CVV number is never saved, and you can require a password or biometric authentication before using autofill for extra security.

Use the steps below to turn autofill on or off, edit saved cards, and set authentication preferences.

Turn payment methods autofill on or off

This feature is recommended for private computers only.
  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (or Preferences, in some cases).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click the Privacy & Security panel.
  3. Scroll down to the Payment methods section.
  4. Check Save and fill payment methods to enable autofill.
  5. Uncheck the box to turn it off.

Require authentication for autofill

To protect your saved payment methods, Firefox allows you to require operating system-level authentication (such as a password, fingerprint, or face recognition) before filling in payment details.

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (or Preferences, in some cases).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click the Privacy & Security panel.
  3. Scroll down to the Payment methods section.
  4. Check Require device sign in to autofill and manage payments methods to turn it on, or uncheck the box to turn it off.
Note: This setting uses your computer’s password, fingerprint, face, or voice login—not your Mozilla account password.

If you don't have an OS password

  • Windows: If you aren't using a Windows password, you will not be prompted to enter it.
  • macOS: If you don't have a password, click the OK twice to continue. Note: This is a known issue and will be fixed in a future update.

Edit your saved payment methods

Use this setting to add, remove or change saved credit card data in Firefox.

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (or Preferences, in some cases).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click the Privacy & Security panel and
  3. Scroll down to the Payment methods section.
  4. Click the Manage payment methods button.
  5. Choose one of the following:
    • Add…: Enter a new credit card using this button.
    • Edit…: Select the credit card you want to change, then click Edit to change it.
    • Remove: Select the credit card you want to delete, then click Remove.
  6. Click the to save your changes and close the window.
