I never signed up for sync, so how did it get on here?

First time I heard about it.... a yellow message came up saying Sync could not work for 7 days.

But I never signed up for any such service!

How do I get it to stop 'syncing'.

You can check in "Firefox > Preferences > Sync" if Sync is actually set up.

It's signed up but I am not sure why. It's not something I would have ever done.

No one else uses my computer... :-)

I just wonder now if I can turn it off and not lose my bookmarks... should be OK right?

Yes, you can click "Unlink This Device" in "Preferences > Sync" to disable sync.
