Does Eudora OSE conflict with recent versions of Firefox on Mac?

My wife is a longtime user of Eudora OSE (which is based on old Thunderbird code). She has had lots of problems with slowness, hangs, and crashes. It just occured to me that there might be some sharing of code between Firefox and Thunderbird where older TBird code might be munging FIrefox. Is that a possibility or not?
