I continually received the following pop up window "Sending of password for user ######@hotmail.com did not succeed. Mail server pop3.live.com responded: Authentication failure: unknown user name or bad password."

How do I fix?

Hotmail app password not accepted

I've created (multiple times) a app password on https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword. I let Thunderbird autodetect the servers which seems to work ( (imap) outlook… (read more)

I've created (multiple times) a app password on https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword. I let Thunderbird autodetect the servers which seems to work ( (imap) outlook.office365.com:993 and smtp.office365.com:587 )

But the password is rejected. The user interface in Thunderbird is bit unclear what exactly fails. Is there a possibility to see where in the handshake to connection is rejected?

I'm having trouble with my Thunderbird password. I have 2 emails with identical settings and passwords. One works fine. The other's asking me for my password. When I enter what I knew for certain was the password I get the message, "Login to server imap.comcast.net with username weissfamily@comcast.net failed." I successfully changed the password still get the same error message. Also I get a Thunderbird popup that says, "Alert from account weissfamily@comcast.net: 1014." This is all above my pay grade. Need assistance. TIA. Tim Weiss

Please help! Out of the blue Thunderbird is saying my password failed. I did not do anything at all to make this happen. It has worked fine for years. But now I am unable to get in. I have spent hours trying to change the password and now I am lost in confusion. Nothing is working. I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. Still cannot get in. What can I do? How do I know when someone answers this? I cannot get email.

I get the error message " The message could not be sent becauseconnecting to outgoingserver (SMTP) mail OnlineBookClub.org failed. The server may be availableor is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your outgoing server settings are correct and try again.

I'm running the latest version of Tbird on a Windows 10 machine. My provider is Comcast. (Xfinity). The program no longer accepts my password and there are no saved passwords in the "Saved Passwords". How can I reset my password? It says no account found. I've been using Tbird for a LONG time.

My provider Network Solutions is updating their security. They would prefer that clients use IMAP rather than POP. Thunderbird software won't let me change this; why? If I have to delete my account and create a new one, wha?

I don't know the difference, but they must and prefer that it be IMAP (netsol-imap-oxcs.hostingplatform.com) (PORT: 993. When bringing up the settings in my mail account, it doesn't allow anyone to change that field. What can I do? I want to use Thunderbird; because of this particular setting I haven't been able to, and must instead log on to Network Solutions and go through their email interface. Thank you.
