I want to get the zebra stripes back on TB31. is there a Theme or an Add-on that does this and supports the newest TB-31?

I was instructed by one of the moderators to manually ADD snippets of code to the optional UserChrome.css file in the Chrome directory in my profile. however, I did not find any Chrome directory in my profile and the link : http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zebra_striping seems to be more than 7 years old please provide a simpler solution to NON-TECHIES !

Trash is automatically deleting after one week. I do NOT want this.

Since we upgraded to the new Thunderbird, our trash empties itself after only one week. I got on help and studied the instructions. I then set it at 30 days instead of 7...or so I thought. I see today that it still automatically deletes messages after only 7 days. I do NOT want them gone so soon! Please help. I've already done what the web site said to do. We've had Thunderbird for years. This did not happen in the past.

I want to know why Mozilla made it impossible to use Ad Blocking extensions. I keep hearing it said that the creators of such extensions have all switched over to WebExtensions for Firefox compatibility, and that Thunderbird isn't WebExtensions compatible, but I don't understand why they've made the existing non-WebExtension versions of ad block addons for Thunderbird incomparable with the latest versions of Thunderbird?

Ads embedded in email messages are still one of the most prevalent ways that computers can get infected with malicious software, so Mozilla has taken away an important layer of protection from it's users. If this situation continues like this, I may have to just give up on Thunderbird altogether because it's too risky to use.

Email moves to junk folder as soon as I click to open in inbox

this happens as soon as I click on email and I must go to junk folder and mark as not junk. These are emails from people I have never marked as junk, I have seen advice to unclick the junk logging. Will see if this helps, but I have not set any filters of my own, so .....?

I used to have a field at the top of my inbox screen in which I could type a few letters and it would pull up all my inbox emails with that info. E. g., if I were looking for all messages from Jeffries, all I had to do was type in "jeff" and it pull them all up. That field has now disappeared.

We are trying to convert our office from Outlook to Thunderbird. Our office guinea-pig has been using Tbird instead of Outlook for about 6 weeks now and likes it very much, except, one little annoyance ...

With Outlook, when the user clicks 'Send', it will give the user a last chance to correct spelling (or send anyway). Thunderbird apparently does not do this. Yes, it does highlight the words it thinks are misspelled, but there is no send-time final check.

Is there a setting to enable spell-check-before-sending?

Hi all,

my aim is to change the appearance of my Thunderbird. Before version 68 that was possible with themes, but those themes are not working anymore.

So, as a simple approach, consider, I want to have a light green color as the background color and black as a foreground color for the 3 main panes. Thus I changed the background color in Preferences/Display/Formatting/Colors/Background to #90ee90 (hereafter #XXXXXX). However, this only changes the background color of the mail-viewing pane. The other two are left as they were before.

Q1: How are the pane foreground and background colors for all panes supposed to be changed?

I tried the simple and the full example, and set tab_background_text to #XXXXXX, and theme_frame to one of my HD images. tab_background_text was the only one with a background in its name. Surprisingly, this changed the foreground color of the menus to #XXXXXX. The panes were left as they were before.

Q2: Is there a full list of the attribute names and their meanings? Q3: What are the names of the pane foreground and background colors? Q4: As someone not familiar with json, can you tell me what #XXX (other than #000 and #FFF) means. It looks like nibble color codes, but its not really explained somewhere.

Btw If you have an xpi, and you change the theme_frame image, and by chance, the image name in the manifest is incorrect, then Thunderbird still reuses the old image, even after a restart, and even if the complete add-on was removed before. Q5: Is this the way it is supposed to be?

Messages in the junk folder must be able to show contents, sometimes we find in the junk mail folder mail that we would like to know what contains but cannot see without returning it to inbox, which fools the spam filter training. Otherwise, why cannot I see what is in a mail sent to me? Are you police? I should be able to see what is inside before I decide if I send it back to inbox or not. Just because an idiot software says it is spam then I cannot open it to see what is inside? With this stupid method what happens is that i have to send back to inbox many mails from the spam folder to see what is inside confusing teh spam filter training.

There should be an option to mark a message as READ when it has been opened (in new tab or window), but not when it has just been displayed in the preview pane.

Either manually (to mark as either READ or UNREAD), or automatically on display in the reading pane (immediately or after a preset number of seconds). The most useful option is not available, namely to automatically mark as READ when the message is actually opened for reading, in a new tab or in a new window. This is the usual way in many other email clients.

I have two groups of email addresses that I sent group mail to. If I want to exclude one or more people in a group due to the content or something but do not want to remove them from the group, how do I do this? I also forward mail to these groups and if one of the people in the group has sent me a message that I want to sent to the group, I want to remove the senders name before forwarding the message but do not want to remove the sender from the group. In my old email software when I add the groups to the message I could double click to show the mail addresses and remove any that I did not want to include for the current message, without removing them for the group.

I have added lots of new email addresses to Thunderbird before, but cannot get this one to connect.

When I look in the Accounts settings I have the correct account Name at the top but when I look at the Outgoing Server SMTP this is not right. New email = us2u@umami-deli.co.uk Outgoing server shows : us2u - mail.umami-deli.co.uk

I get an error message: Configuration could no be verified

An example of a previous successful email address has outgoing server address: jobs@umami-deli.co.uk - mail.umami-deli.co.uk

Somehow it is not connecting the us2u to the @umami-deli.co.uk.

I have tried to stop auto configuration and enter it manually, without success.

I have also taken screenshots, but cannot for the life of me see where/how to attach them to this message

I cannot set my default outgoing server. Help. I have been able to edit any and all of the account settings in the past. I even restarted with all plugins and extension off. Still cannot edit the account settings.

Click on Outgoing Server (STMP) get the message " 'An account with this name already exists. Please enter a different account name.

This is Critical as I cannot send email.
