Hi, I'm using Thunderbird chat with XMPP and Openfire as XMPP server. My only problem is that I can't transfer file on chat window. However, I can easily send files on other XMPP client such as Pidgin or AstraChat.

So, my question is, does Thunderbird chat support file transfer ?

Thx

Using Thunderbird I upgraded not too long ago (in 2 steps) from Eudora to now version 91.11.0. I no longer see my address books (but see files abook.mab and history.mab (but not the .BAK versions as suggested on the internet)). Both files seem to contain data (when viewed in Notepad). How to get Thunderbird to recognize/use my address books?

Many of the older messages still in my inbox seem to be corrupted somehow.

When I double click to open the message, it opens a different email showing on the html/jscript body of the other email. For example, links in the html/jscript are for different websites.

1. Could I have set an option or configured this incorrectly? 2. Is there a way to just recreate my inbox without downloading the whole mail userid content?

I'm running on Windows 11 and using the Thunderbird 103.0b1 (64-bit) release.

Any other ideas? Happy 4th to all the American users and developers! ++Mark. https://ctproduced.com

email account fails to login, triggers blocking by host

One of six email accounts consistently triggers a "fail" by the host server, leading to the blocking of my mails and web pages.

Thunderbird 102.2.2 install may have been the source of the problem. Updated now to 102.3.0 but still a problem.

All of the parameters of the bad account are the same as other, successful accounts.

Also, the parameters on the host are the same, and the password is the same on host and in Thunderbird.

I need to retain the old emails on the account for my records; I can forward new mails to another account.

How can I retain the old emails for reference while preventing the account from trying to login? Can I delete the account but retain the old emails??

I am using Thunderbird 102.0.3 (64-bit). I now have vertical lines on the inbox of one of my accounts. When I copy the inbox to the trash folder, the lines follow. The lines look like very small bar codes.

I have attached a screenshot of the issue.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no joy. I also resetting toolbars & controls, but that did not help either.

Also, I can't customize my toolbars anymore. When I try this, there is only a "hand" mouse cursor, and I can't make any changes.

Does anyone have an idea of what i may try?

Thank you!

I have never disliked an email program as much as I do Thunderbird!!! I thought Outlook was bad, grrr. Sorry for the rant.

Somehow today, my "send" tab in Thunderbird got reset to "send later". Not only will it not let me return to the 'send' default, copying the text of draft messages I created are all set for this too so won't let me copy and paste into a new message in Thunderbird and be able to send that! (I wish I could attach a screenshot of the tab but that function isn't available on the Thunderbird page either!)

So grateful if someone can tell me how to fix this.

(p.s. If Mozilla cares about its users as much as I've always thought it did, surely someone from the company can 'step in' and address the multitude of problems so many of us keep having without resolve? I still cannot open messages properly to read and reply after the last glitch. I'm almost ready to stop using Mozilla altogether ... and that's a BIG crossroads for me because I LOVE the Firefox browser! If anyone from Mozilla is reading this, PLEASE intervene!!! What a supreme waste of time this entire email program is!)

Thunderbird automatically upgraded to version 102.3.1 (32-bit) this morning when my Windows 10 computer restarted after a Windows Update. Since then, Task Manager shows thunderbird.exe to be consistently using 5-10% of the CPU. If I go to offline mode, the usage goes to 0. This is new behavior after the upgrade. Any suggestions for fixing that would be appreciated.

Hi, I have an existing installation of Thunderbird 91.9.1 on my linux system. I have a gmail, outlook and web.de mail each running via this installation (IMAP). My new workmail is hosted by 1&1(ionos). I can log in via web interface. Autoconfig finds the configuration that is (according to their help articles) the correct one to access the Mail via IMAP. Incoming: imap.1und1.de SSL/TLS 993 Outgoing: smtp.1und1.de STARTTLS 587 normal Password Username is my full email address. There have been no typos. I checked 5x, copy pasted, rechecked. Pasted it into the web interface login, and thunderbird before clicking go on each -> tb - no, web - yes domain is talsen.team

I would appreciate some pointers to get this fixed. And yes i did read prior questions regarding this error. It did not help in my case.

I AM WITHDRAWING THIS QUESTION, AS I THINK I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO NEW MONITORING FEATURES I ACTIVATED IN MALWAREBYTES. I TURNED THEM OFF AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE NOW.

I believe there was an automatic update to Thunderbird a few days ago, and it looked like an error message popped up, but the message disappeared before I could read it. Ever since then, it's been taking forever to launch. Then when it finally does launch, I initially have a lot of lagging, delays, not responding messages, and even message windows closing while I'm in the middle of typing. It seems to "warm up" after a while and work as before.

Any ideas what might be causing this and how to fix it? I'm on Windows 11.

Thank you!

Overnight I received half a dozen emails that had swapped subject lines and body content with old emails and had odd headers. Some of the headers look like the HTML of the email has been split into header key/value pairs which therefore make no sense (see image attached). I use GMail and realise this could be a Google problem but some of these emails appear correctly when viewed on the GMail Android app on my phone so Thunderbird is more likely. I run Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon with all latest updates including their recently (2 days ago) update of Thunderbird to V91.11.0 (64-bit) and Kernel 5.15.0-43-generic.

Tbh, at first I thought I'd been hacked, but thought I'd post here in case there's an issue with TB that needs looking at, after rebooting to double check the fault remained. Latest emails appear to arrive as normal. It gives the impression something is amiss with a parser somewhere.

Please advise or disregard as necessary.

Regards

All of a sudden when I try to print my emails from my MacBook Air, they come out all garbled like HTML code. Headers and body copy all come out in code instead of formatted correctly. I've tried everything I can think of to try to correct this issue, but I'm out of ideas. It works perfectly fine from both my other desktop computers. It's just happening with my laptop. I NEED to be able to print my emails from my laptop so I have GOT to get this figured out. Please help!

Hello! Using Thunderbird for some years now and very happy normally. Although after trying to send 1 email with a special character "å" in the address, that did NOT succeed, now everytime Thunderbid launches, it pops a dialogbox:

Dialogbox [Unsent Messages] [X Close] Do you want to send your unsent messages now? [Checkbox, Checked] Always ask me when I go online [Send Now] [Later]

Everytime I launch Thunderbird, it now welcomes me with the dialog box!

I have ZERO messages in [Outbox] folder and [Queue] folders. (Is the latter an official Thunderbid folder?) Both are empty. I have repaired ALL folders. I'm always online.

The email was never sent away, probably due to impossible character in email address, and I never saw the unsent email so I have not been able to delete it. Clicking the [Later] button dismisses the windows but then brings the problem back in the future.

Where is the list of log or index of unsent and still to be sent emails? Apparently Thunderbird knows something, despite [Outbox] folder being completely empty!?

I've manually gone offline and back online and sayed online like normally.

PS. read this topic which did not solve my problem! https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1072963

Any and all help is welcome. Thanks

Login to my Thunderbird account has failed for the second time in less than a month. The first time it happened, the system seems to have fixed itself. This time, it is locked. See the attachment showing the error message. I vaguely remember being advised a few years ago to delete something in my TB and reinstall, that the content of my account is stored elsewhere and would reinstall. Is that correct?
