Thunderbird seems to delete an image from messages I forward. How do I stop that?

The yahoo mail/att.net account I'm having this issue with is set up using IMAP. The yahoo mail/att.net SPAM folder is not being pulled down into Thunderbird. This has caused me to miss deadlines because I was unaware that important emails were being marked as spam by yahoo mail/att.net. How do I fix this?
Where do I find "out of office" setting?
