I am a long time (10+ yrs) user of Thunderbird. I recently deployed v104 on Ubuntu and find using the address book at less than half screen width difficult. Once a contact pane has been opened it covers most (all but 2+ entries) of the existing address list (see attached.) For me, this could be improved if a widget to close the contact window, otherwise I have to close and reopen the address book to clear the contact pane/window.

Is there a solution I am missing?

Thanks for your time, Andy

I got a new PC and set my accounts up but forgot to transfer over my address book, so I did that yesterday. When I went to the Local Folders (now called little blue filing cabinet) a whole bunch of folders had appeared that weren't there before. Most of them allowed me to delete them, but after closing Thunderbird and going back in, all the files again appeared. Does anyone have an idea how I can make them go away?! Any advice would be gratefully received. Lesley

to backup TB on windows to my Pi, I mount the TB profile folder then rsync its contents to the backup drive on the Pi ( then rsync it later to an offsite backup, but a slow connection) The windows folder has a lot of *cache* folders/files - which i can exclude there are lot of folders with a ~ or ~~ at the end of the name I am assuming they are some sort of temprary folder that i can also ignore ? If i dont backup *Trash* does that mean the restore function should i need to use the backup isnt available . And I think I'll keep the *msf files - AIUI not essential but useful to have immediately available should I need to use the backup

anything else I can ignore for the backup

Emails sent from Google Apps domains show a sender image when displayed in GMail, but not in Thunderbird. I assume the necessary information must be stored in some google-proprietary header? Is there an extension that will make these images visible in Thunderbird, or a setting in the application proper that I haven't found?

The email composing window includes Write: in the title (before the actual email title). How can I remove this part from the title?

The space I have on my device is narrow where I can see the titles of the emails being composed and I would like to see only the email title in that location, without the "Write:" portion. Does anyone know how I can achieve this?

Hi there,

I am stressed by notifications and e-mail sync during all day. Is it possible to only allow sync during specific time e.g. 12-15 or only on specific days?

If possible with different settings for different accounts.

I think there should be an add-on for that but I have not managed to find it. Do you know about it?

I had to delete my mail account because Thunderbird kept asking for my password and I was told by my email provider, after trying multiple solutions, to delete the account as a last resort. I basically have had to start over and have gone through the process. I had my mail set up so that messages from people I work with would get tagged by color depending various Address Books they were listed in. Something has changed in Tbird and I am not able to find the way I did it before. Now it seems I need to create a filter for my messages, but cannot figure out how to designate my various Address Books as what to filter with. Any Ideas?

I was using an extension for this, that seems to be unsupported in my current (109.0b4 (64-bit)) version of Thunderbird.

In NNTP/Newsgroups it's really most appropriate to have "Followup" be the first button... I find myself constantly wanting to reply (publicly) to a message... Realistically, it would be better if "Followup" were "Reply (in group)" and the default as a combo button/dropdown. And "Reply" replaced with "Reply (via Email)" or similar.

I'm not sure where I would/could submit this suggestion... it's exceedingly annoying that there doesn't seem to be a way to change/modify this order, let alone improve the behavior.

I'd like to be able to configure the format of numbered lists, both for a particular list in an email, and as a default template that will apply to all future emails that I compose.

I can find no documentation on how numbered lists are supposed to work. Mine are currently giving me roman numerals at all levels, e.g.

1. Top level

 1. Next level
   1. Lower level

I've come across some interesting options, including particularly https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1052897, which I've tried, but it doesn't work for me.

Please help!

Hi,

I use many(!) different profiles. I would like my signature to be identical for all profiles except for the email address. Is there a way to do that?

Right now, if I want to change the content of my signature, I have to do it for all my profiles and that gets tedious when testing stuff out.

This is what it would look like:

My name What I do My email (this changes based on the profile)

Thanks,

L
