I've read some articles about this but I can't find what they're talking about. What is the message header? I'm not sure when this started but I don't like it, it's confusing about what message I'm reading or discussing. I only want to see one message at a time and I can't seem to change the setting.

I need to generate notices for the sender of all incoming email messages. I've been searching and trying now for several days without success. Is there a method to export all the messages for a folder to a readable file on a local disk so it can be read with a custom program? I'm hoping this is something that is available but if so I cannot find where. Thanks in advance for any ideas/pointers/instructions.

MANY Years of experience in this Industry has taught me that the Most "UNSTABLE" types of Files, across Numerous Different Manufacturers and Products are Email Files. Trying to Migrate (Often IMPORTANT) emails from one system to another as the Computer Industry advances too fast for its own good, OFTEN results in the LOSS of Data, and Duplicating the Contents of emails in different File Types, before Migrating, Compacting, or whatever, takes FAR TOO LONG. So I've learnt to LEAVE The Files ALONE and Try to keep Duplicates, when time permits. I'm a New User of Thunderbird (because my previous Microsoft Product was "losing" files) and today, for the First Time I was ask to allow Thunderbird to COMPACT its files. I worry that this will make the Files HARDER / SLOWER to Access, MORE LIKELY to be LOST, and LESS EASY to Migrate at some time in the future. My Computer has TONS of Unused Space, so I have no Personal Need to Recover the 230MB Thunderbird is telling me it will Free Up.

What is your recomendation - based Primarly on the RELIABILITY and SECURITY of my Data.

Hello, Thank you for all your work. I've been a loyal Thunderbird user for several years now and I really like the features of TB. However the update to version 102.6.1 is not doing well.

Please forgive me, as there are a lot of questions below. But this issue is really important to me.

Here are my concerns: 1. I've stopped the automatic update of TB using your settings.

2. The email portion seems to work well - and thank you.

3. But the Address Book portion is really BAD. I cannot display all the information for an address. The data is not present. ** I need a functioning address book. **

4. The list of Address Books (I have three now) is present but the panel on the left is too large, and cannot be adjusted.

I've exported the contents of these address books to LDIF and CSV files as a backup.

5. Trying to delete or move multiple addresses does not work. I'm trying to select multiple addresses, as with Windows - hold the Shift key at the top and bottom.

6. Also after selecting an address, it is really difficult to get back to the full list.

7. IMPORTANT - can I install an earlier version of TB WITHOUT losing information.?

8. I found the Cardbook addon, but it will not work. It will not load my existing address books into Cardbook. The add-on author has tried to help, but has not succeeded yet.

9. I've read the various entries the TB forum and other sites via Google.

10. Ready to jump back to Outlook - which I don't want to do. Maybe not?

11. Please point me to an earlier version of TB that works better than v.102.

Again, sorry for all these questions. I've spent hours trying to fix this issue. Hope you can help.


I cannot get my existing address books to load into Cardbook. Where are the controls to do so? How does one synchronize then?

I hope that you can solve what I'm doing wrong with CardBook. I'm not a newbie, actually a retired SysAdmin and a serious Windows 10 user.

At a point this evening, I was unable to send mail using Thunderbird. SMTP outgoing mail.wowway.com Port:587 Shows error message: Error message: C20 from mail server. Just so you know WOWAY.com is Wide Open West located (HQ) in Colorado. They employ Synacor to do their email server needs, great, another variable. I need to send email, from this desktop workstation. Clue, I even use win 7 sp1 on a self built rig that matches the hardware and software. BUT, believe it or not, today was update Tuesday which is just a security rollup from Microsoft these days. Hmmmm. I have tried everything. Thunderbird ver: 102.2.2 (32 bit) although my whole system runs on 64 bit. Sounds almost patchworthy, I'm not the only one.

Hi, All was well until I restarted TB to the latest version: 102.4.0 (64-bit). Since then I have been unable to send emails via my pacbell (yahoo) account. I can receive them OK. I can send and receive when accessing my mail via the browser. Whenever I try to send or forward an email I get the following message:

Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

My password is correct because web access works OK. What can I do to resolve this issue?

people keep saying Mozilla support is really good, but that's not what i (and loads of others) are currently experiencing. it's been six days now, and not a word from Mozilla about the disastrous car crash that is 102.2.2. missing emails and folders, search problems, duplicate emails in the Inbox. i see no actual improvements at all. did they ever test it? why couldn't all this new stuff be modular, so we didn't have to have it if we didn't need all the chat, and the calendar, and all the rest of it, just to send and receive emails? why did they go from version 91 to version 102? that in itself is suspicious. when are we going to hear from them, and what are they going to do about it? six days is too long to hear nothing.

It seems that e-mails from one particular e-mail address, solidifi_values@solidifi.com are being blocked or filtered out as spam. I need Thunderbird to recognize this address and allow all e-mails from this address to be delivered to me. This is the second time I have posted this request. I can't find this info anywhere. I had three email addresses. I made several subfolders for saving certain emails under the LOCAL folder. Then I added a couple new emails. All those newer emails addresses are below my local folder (which contains lots of subfolders.) I would just like to move UP my email folders so they are all in a line and I can check all the emails while the LOCAL folder and its subfolders is at the bottom of the list. Does this make sense? I have tried moving it and nothing happens. I guess the word I'm looking for is REORDER. I want to reorder my folders. Thank you. (I collapsed everything to make it easier to see in the picture.)

I have had this happen multiple times with multiple mail accounts and I've finally managed to narrow down why it happens.

The error: every time I restart Thunderbird, the affected mail accounts reset to the last proper state, which was sometimes weeks ago, requiring Thunderbird to fetch all "new" changes from the server.

If the Thunderbird appdata folder's disk is fully while the program tries to write new data to them, they irrevocably break. The only solution is deleting the account and then entering the login info again, fetching all the messages. I've tried every other possible suggested solution I could find to no avail.


102.9.1 (64-bit), Windows version


Also submitting a simple Thunderbird bug report is an absolute nightmare, for 25 minutes I've been redirected from site to site requiring me to register, then getting redirected again.

Our messages are not sent to other mails, and errors are immediately thrown out. And if it is sent, then other people do not receive the message, and after some time, a notification about a sending error comes. This is possible due to the fact that the mail shows our messages as spam and does not allow sending them to other mails. Please look into our issue as soon as possible and give us a reply.
