Hi I had an issue the other day where thunderbird was complaining about a stale lock so i hunted down on the web how to fix it which was just to delete the lock file, but ever since then when thunderbird fires up, I get completely blank panes with none of my email account and I can't even open preferences or anything else. I can see that everything is still there in .thunderbird. This is on MacOS 10.15.7 and thunderbird is on auto-update so ought to be current.

Sorry if this is vague, but it's sort of hard to describe and even harder to figure out how to google for it.

I have Thunderbird set to save attachments in the download folder. Thunderbird does not respect this setting and instead defaults to the last folder I downloaded to. It retains this last folder selection even after closing and restarting Thunderbird. See attached screenshot.

Emails shift around and the view/emails update after deleting single/multiple emails, causing the current emails to update and change which emails are shown? I can select one or multiple emails to delete, and once I delete them the view of current emails shuffles around and sometimes it either removes certain emails entirely, and other times just shifts them around. Hi, I've exhaustively checked my server settings, and they are correct (nothing's changed on my end, or per Centurylink recs). But for the last two days, Centurylink servers are timing out. Thunderbird is connecting to the server, but the connection is timing out. I can't receive or send messages through Thunderbird, and have had to resort to webmail. Not getting any help from centurylink chat. Did anything change on the Thunderbird end of things?

I'm trying to understand and speed up my Thunderbird backups. (Using Version 78.11.0 32-bit on Windows 10.) Presently I start TB with the shortcut

"C:\blahblah\thunderbird.exe" -profile E:\mumble\TBirdMail\ronks

and back up the folder named above.

But the folder is over 8 gigabytes and has 48,000 files and folders in it; most of it presumably duplicates what's on the IMAP server in the cloud. Plus several hundred temporary "cache" files. Just traversing it to see what has changed can take several minutes, plus copying the temporary files in the folder. Is there a straightforward way to back up only what needs to be backed up, like options and account settings and Local Folders, and skip the temporary cache files and mail on the server?

I am not sure but I seem get extra copies of email my Drafts folder that appear to have showed up if I take quite a while to compose an email (an email that I am working on throughout the day) and the draft copies do not go away when I send the email.

In addition, there are other email in the drafts folder that have no reason that I can see for being there.

Approx a month ago all messages in my Thunderbird acc disappeared, I've searched as much as I am able with somewhat limited tech ability but can't find them. Each day the folder name for Inbox has numbers of messages received shown beside the name but no new messages appear in the box, numbers start over each day. a couple of times when I've been searching at the bottom of a page a figure is shown which would equate to the number of emails that should be in Inbox, sent, etc, so perhaps one can hopefully assume they are all there somewhere, but where? I suspect that there was a major Thunderbird update downloaded at around this time. I hadn't changed any of my settings but possibly they are wrong for the new update? Got me mystified, need to solve it soon my inbox contains invoices receipts, appointments & a lot other material that supports my life at the moment.

I bought a new 2021 laptop with windows 10 pro and a 2560 x 1600 display. I found the Thunderbird font size to be way too small. All other programs are ok & normal. How to fix this problem? I don't think I can change my display or all other programs will then have a problem. I think the fix or change will have to be in Thunderbird. Thanks

Background: I have several identities. One is for my university, and I sometimes have to write mails to some people there. My default mail address is my private one, and I have forgotten to change this on multiple occasions now, sending people in my university mails from my private account.

Question: Is it possible to change the default sender identity based on what domain I enter in the To box?

Since the upgrade to version 78 all incoming messages in my inbox become drafts.

They have a "this is a draft message" warning on the top and if I open them I find myself editing a draft message addressed to myself.

Curiously as soon as I move them to some of the local folders the nonsense stops and get become normal incoming emails again.

So, since this has now happened to me a few times, I'm asking for help!  :) Thunderbird 78.11 - have used TB for many years, happily. I customarily keep several tabs open - for emails I need to reply to, at some point, or that contain something I'll come back to. This morning, of the 6 "open" tabs, 4 of them were not the emails I'd put there, but older ones totally unrelated to anything. In other words, only 2 were ones I'd put there, the other 4 (which were there last night) had "changed", somehow, to different emails. I hope I'm making sense! As I said, this has now happened a handful of times - not consistently and with no discernible pattern. Thunderbird is always open - so it's not a matter of restarting/reopening (and the tabs usually stay in place when I do that anyway). Open to suggestions - and appreciate any thoughts!

Hi, since the last update from v77 to v 78 Im having troubles with the printouts. I have many mails with more than 1 receiver. When i click on print it only shows one receiver on the paper. Also on the print preview there are only 1 CC,BCC. I already tried to go back to v77 but this didnt help. I use an exchange mail adress connected with ExQuilla, i never had this problem it worked fine for the last 2 years. What could i do? I need this function

Email content disappears when drag & drop from Inbox to Local Folder

Recent error occurring coincidental to updating to Thunderbird v.78.11.0 (32-bit). Windows 10 OS.

Occurrence is 3x in past three days, when copying multiple (4, 7, 8) messages from Inbox ("IMAP") to a Local Folder, there's a glitch, the loading spin-wheel shows up, messages disappear from Inbox, but don't show up in the destination folder. Either waiting for the process to continue to interrupting by exiting the app doesn't seem to make a different. Either way, outcome is the same, the subject emails are no longer present in Inbox, and do appear in the destination folder, however, the attributes of the emails (Subject, Correspondence, and Content) are all blank, and Date has been changed to the day/time of the attempted/aborted drag&drop operation. I will attach a screenshot of end result.

Did a few DuckDuckGo searches, found a few similar Bugzilla reports (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=520478) from several years ago, however, unable to ascertain from them a cause or identify a remedy, if available.

Any advice for a non-coder computer novice forced to use his PC for some workplace functions during COVID work-from-home? This is a first time glitch for me using TB - only recent system change has been use of a home VPN for Internet access (from vendor Bitdefender).

Where are the inboxes? How do I check my emails?
