My Thunderbird has been working properly for about 30 years, but now refuses to open. Message received says 'Authentication failed'. This happens repeatedly (for at least 20-30 times) and appears to relate to my password. It suggests 'Retry' or 'Enter new password'. The 'Retry' repeats as before so I check the Saved Passwords and enter the one saved. I get the same message. I am using Version 115 and have been for some time.
Could this be related to a change of Profile? There must be a way to reset the password? I have checked all the settings and no errors appear, all settings confirmed.
I have thought about a Recovery Mode and seem to remember seeing a message that I do have that. I just don't know how to access it.

I recently had to re-install Windows. I saved my Thunderbird profile. I re-installed Thunderbird and when imported my profile, I could retrieve my messages but could not send messages. I attempted to change the settings and wound up creating two additional Pop3 accounts. Now I can't send or retrieve messages. My provider is Charter/Spectrum. I have tried all the settings they suggested. How do I get out of this fix? Thanks.

When I am deleting emails, I frequently end up with the same email as most recent in my inbox and thus automatically selected. This opens a new tab with the same email as content and soon my tab section is filled up with multiple versions of the same few emails and the inbox tab pushed off the screen.
Can there not be a setting to open up the existing tab if it has the same content. Or alternatively a way to pin the folder tab (normally inbox) on the left of the tabs permanently.
Other tabbed applications do not open up multiple tabs with the same content.
Yes I could shut the unwanted, repeated tab each time Thunderbird opens it, but I don't want to have to.
This seems like an easy feature? Please??

So I immediately went into the profile in the roaming folder for windows 10 and searched for a backed up copy of the inbox... assuming that Thunderbird would do such a thing as I have seen in other email clients.
I found nothing like that. I searched everywhere I could think of for some old inbox file that would contain the emails or at least most of them... NOTHING. I just have never seen a client that didn't make routine backups of the data files.
Am I missing something? Is there a file somewhere?

It appears Cox has a data package which I need to import to Thunderbird or Mozilla and i need advice on how to do this? I am at wits-end on this issue, I would like to keep chaz4@ cox.net and ocal9@cox.net or switch them to mozilla.org or at least for a while forward them to chask14@yahoo.com. But if non of these things are possible, I guess I will have to stop using either email address. If you are a Human and not a machine, please send your response to chask14@yahoo.com as chaz4@cox.net may not be working anymore.

I have installed Thunderbird 115 after following disk drive failure. I use Gmail as my mail provider and now when I try to add a recipient in the 'to' or 'cc' to a new email I want to create I don't get any auto-suggestions from my previous mail history which I used to get before. This makes the product almost useless because I can't remember every possible email address I have received and I don't always add occasional contacts details to my local address book.
Am I missing something like a setting change or something?

My email is on a gmail server. I've been using POP for a long time. My inbox in gmail has 160,000 emails. They go back to 2005. In Thunderbird I have moved emails from inbox to to various local folders. Right now I only have from 1/1/2022 forward in the Thunderbird inbox.
Let me know of any way of migrating to IMAP
