Hello This morning I am having issues with Thunderbird giving me errors. It was fine yesterday. When I click on 'Help' I get an error, when I click on a link in an email I get an error. There have been a couple of other instances also but can't remember offhand.

Have attached a screenshot of one of the error messages.

Thanks for any help.

At the end of June I was in the hospital and was not able to use my computer until about the second week of July. When I tried to use Thunderbird I kept getting incorrect password errors. My email is Verizon.net which is now located at AOL.com.

I tried to log into AOL.com and needed to reset my password. Once I did I was then able to read my email on the AOL web site. So I then started Thunderbird, entered this new password when Thunderbird said to enter a a correct password, but it kept giving me an incorrect password message. I've tried entering it several times and still get the same error.

Any idea what I need to do? I have no problem going to AOL.com and reading and sending email from there but I want to use Thunderbird.

I've added a jpg file that shows how my password setting are and noticed that the account efberney@verizon.net reads smtp at the start and this account does work in Thunderbird, but my account fsberney@verizon. starts with mailbox://pop

Could this be the issue and if so how do I change that setting?

Thank you for your help.

Has anyone else got this problem, and know how to resolve it?

Hello, I have a mailing list with many members. I would like to create a very similar list which would include most of the members, but add a few, and remove a few from the original list.

Is it possible to make a copy of an existing mailing list, and then modify the new copy, without manually recreating the new list?

I know this is probably a repeat request.

Thunderbird Linux 78 does not send messages. I changed the TLS setting to 1 as prescribed; it didn't work.

I can't get a screen shot as it "flashes" by upon send, then the message sits on the screen with the "send" button greyed out.

Thanks, Ulysses

What is this line, why is it there? Does the word From cause any trouble due to similarity with "From:" header?

Please can anyone help me? I recently had a computer malfunction which necessitated a complete reinstall of Windows 10, erasing my existing C partition data. Needless to say, as Thunderbird keeps all Profiles data in the C partition, I lost ALL of my data. Fortunately I had been using Acronis True Image to back up my C drive contents, so I as able to get back my old data. However this meant that I had to create new Profiles to get Thunderbird to recognise the backed up data. My problem is this; is there a simple way, please, to merge the Profiles so that all my emails and addresses are in one Profile? Any advice or help will be gratefully received. (I have now set Acronis TI to backup the Profiles on a regular basis!)

Have an existing Gmail account that was working great for years with TB, now each time I try to open TB I get the error:

Login to account ".......@gmail.com failed with three boxes with these options:

Retry Enter New Password Cancel

Retry gives same error as above

Enter New passsword for .........@gmail.com is entered then OK (the correct password is there already) then same error as above!!!

In the email server settings for setting up Gmail to work with TB the instructions say:

Use the table below to update your client with the correct information. For help updating your settings, search your email client's Help Center for instructions on setting up IMAP.

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server

imap.gmail.com

Requires SSL: Yes

Port: 993

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server

smtp.gmail.com

Requires SSL: Yes

Requires TLS: Yes (if available)

Requires Authentication: Yes

Port for SSL: 465

Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587 Full Name or Display Name Your name Account Name, User name, or Email address Your full email address Password Your Gmail password

HOWEVER in the actual setup there the options for Security Settings are different than the instructions above:

For Incoming Server

Connection Security:

None STARTLS SSL/TLS

and for Authentication Method:

Normal Password Encrypted password Kerberos/GSSAPI NTLM TLS Certificate OAuth2

and the same options apply to SMTP outgoing Server setup screens

my port number settings are correct my emailname is correct the password is correct the account is setup as IMAP the server name is imap.gmail.com and the outgoing server name is smtp.gmail.com

my security settings both incoming and outgoing servers are:

for connection security: SSL/TLS for authentication Normal password

There is NO option to choose "requires authentication:yes" as in the instructions to setup

but unable to send or receive gmail thru thunderbird

Please help what option under security and authentication works? for both incoming and outgoing servers?

Thank you

I am having Thunderbird problems with downloading Verizon emails. This problem started Monday, July 12th.

I cannot send or receive Verizon emails on Thunderbird. I am using Thunderbird 78.12.0 (64 bit).

My Thunderbird account is set up for Incoming Verizon emails using Verizon POP Mail Server, pop.verizon.net, port 995.

My Thunderbird account is also set up for Outgoing email to Verizon Online SMTP Server, smtp.verizon.net, Port 465.

My Authentication Method is: Normal Password and my Connection Security is: SSL/TLS.

I get the following error message, from my provider Verizon/AOL: "Sending of password for user xxxxxxxxx@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.verizon.net responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later. "Login to server pop.verizon.net with username xxxxxxxx@verizon.net failed".

I have tried deleting my passwords in Thunderbird "Options" and then re-entering them with no luck.

I have never had this problem before in all the years I have been using Thunderbird. On July 12th, something changed (software update?) at Verizon/AOL or something changed at Thunderbird to cause this problem. I believe this is true since it is a global issue (affecting many users).

Note: I can go out to AOL's web site and login to my Verizon account and read/send all emails.

I would appreciate any help -- thank you.

TWO PROBLEMS: 1. I save a lot of emails and move them to folders I have created. I just installed Thunderbird after using Eudora 7.1.9 for over 25 years. In Thunderbird, I "get messages", read them and either move them to a folder for future use or delete them. I close out of Thunderbird, and when I reopen it to "Get messages", I also get emails from the server that I have read and either deleted or moved to folders. When using Eudora, the minute the emails were downloaded to the computer, they were deleted from the server which eliminated that problem. I looked at options and it let you delete messages over so many days or by size. That is dumb. i.e. If I receive 75 emails a day and even if I read them and move them to folders, the next day I will have 150 emails of which 75 have been read, in 10 days there will be 750 emails to download of which I have already read and processed 675. BACK TO MY QUESTION: HOW DO I DELETE ALL EMAILS FROM THE SERVER AS SOON AS I DOWNLOAD THEM TO THUNDERBIRD? 2. I can receive emails, but cannot forward or send. I double checked my SMTP settings and they are correct as noted on Spectrum website. port 587 mail.twc.com password normal SSL/TLS . Thanks, LIN

Hi,

My boss has multiple email addresses some of which he no longer uses. He asked me to clean those up. So I went to

Tools->Account Settings->Clicked on email account. Then chose Remove Account from the Account Actions pull down menu. I made sure it is not the default account.

I deleted the Account. But when I close ThunderBird and open it, All the deleted Accounts are there.

Also, when I create a new Account, that Account it disappears when I restart Thunderbird.

My boss is convinced Thunderbird only allows a finite number of email accounts. So that's why he asked me to remove some unused accounts. But I'm sure that's not the case.

We are on version 78.11.0, Windows10 x64.

Thanks.

I have an email I send to regularly. The persons name at that email changed. I changed the contact (address) form to reflect this.

Under the inbox, the email name is listed in the from column. In my sent folder the recipient name is the new name!

When I do a search the To: under the Subject lists the old persons name! Not a big deal, although she cost me a lot of $$$ and every time I see the old name it makes me grumpy!!

I have the new first, Last and display name listed for the contact.

Any ideas on where TB is grabbing the old name from?

Thanks
