Starting 3 days ago: Cannot SEND email - receiving works fine. Error message: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Please ensure your email address and authenticating user match when sending messages. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

The other odd thing is that I get asked for a password before sending which never happened before.

I followed advice given someone in 2022 - I've messed with the account settings (unfortunately) and I've changed the SMTP settings to match what Comcast recommends.

I have 3 comcast accounts; two work fine on my iPad and iPhone - one doesn't

Also I have no problem sending emails using Xfinity/Comcast Mail... but I want to use Thunderbird.

Where do I start looking?

I'm connecting to an MS Exchange server via smtp.office365.com and mostly this works OK by now. I do have a stupid problem, however: After deleting several folders, they always "come back" as "ghost folders" (grayed out and without messages) and it's impossible for me to get rid of them. Very annoying. I've tried a couple of steps:

  • of course, I tried deleting the folders through the Thunderbird interface, also from Trash, where they first move to
  • I also tried to delete msf-files associated with the deleted folders -- to no avail
  • I also tried to unsubscribe from these folders using the "Subscribe" interface -- this is not possible: I can tick off the folders, save my choices, but as soon as I open "Subscribe" again, these folders are back
  • I also tried to use Outlook, but the deleted folders are not shown in Outlook -- it seems to me that Thunderbird has difficulties letting them go

I'd be very thankful for any constructive help!

When I receive junk email, Thunderbird shows mail received (for example 10 emails) there are ...again for example 3 in my inbox and the other 7 are nowhere to be found. Not in junk and not in trash. I am concerned that there might be some emails that are not junk that I am not able to get. I would like to be able to review the junk folder prior to deletion. What setting options do I need to change to make this happen? I am using pop email... Thanks!!

Hello! I have linked my smartphone with the add-on: Provider for Google Calendar. How can I now transfer my existing appointments to the Google Calendar? I tried to export the existing appointments and then to import it into Google Calendar. Unfortunately, this was not possible because not a single appointment from the existing calendar is exported. I just get an empty .ics file. Any help? Please! Martin

I have not been receiving replies to adds I have on Gumtree, to my primary email address, denisj51@msn.com. Gumtree has advised me that my email client, which is Thunderbird, is identifying them as Spam, and is deleting them! I check the junk folder of that account regularly, and they are not sent to that folder. I would like to stop them being deleted. How do I do that ? Thanks for your help. Denis.

It has been one year, and you still have not fixed the multiselect functionality that was ruined with your Supernova "update" (which is worse in almost all aspects btw). Can you at least tell us WHEN you plan to release the fix since you locked the comments to block the countless negative ones? Is it so hard for your UX team to understand that removing multiselect functionality is like removing Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+V and set the correct priority???

My Thunderbird profile in Linux Ubuntu 24.04 is in /home/dick/Thunderbird_mail/me. I want to copy it to a new directory. I copied it using the following commands: dick@dick1:~$ mkdir t2 dick@dick1:~$ cp -rf Thunderbird_mail t2

I then ran "thunderbird -P" and created a new profile pointing to /home/dick/t2/me When I opened this profile I got the message "You have launched an a\older version of Thunderbird.", even though I was running the same version of Thunderbird. If I open the profile in Thunderbird_mail/me, it works correctly. If I open the profile in t2/me with the same executable of Thunderbird, I get this message.

How can I copy my profile to a new directory?

Recently for no apparent reason I'm not receiving any emails to my email accounts. This happened about 2 weeks ago, after some clicking I was ask to authorize some form and this resolved the difficulty. However it has now returned with a vengeance and none of my accounts are receiving any emails. I have not made any alteration or tampered with any account settings. Yesterday the emial system was operating perfectly but today absolutely nothing only the emails received yesterday are showing. All I get is a notice advising that whatever email address I click on "connected to emap@ gmail.com" or what other incomming connecting is used. My FireFox was updated about 2 hours ago whilst trying to open my emails. Can someone help or do I close the account ?
