The inbox font in the Thunderbird email client on my Mac is super tiny, and it's very hard to read. I can't figure out how to make it larger. Is there a way to do this? I really like Thunderbird so far, but if I can't read it, I can't use it.

Thanks! Mark

I would like to use a filter to forward emails to a list that I have created, allowing me to add to or remove addresses from the list for maintenance purposes.

I have tried the same syntax that works in the To, CC or BCC fields, but I always am told to enter a valid email address in the "Forward Message To" option.

I am using Thunderbird 91.0b3 (64-bit) on Linux Mint 20.1 running XFCE 4.14.3

I am trying to set TB to open a PDF attachment in the external system viewer Xreader.

I have tried the following:-

1) edited the mimeTypes.rdf file with the correct lines for a PDF (https://termbin.com/qwpf).

2) deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file and tried to set it in Preferences.

3) edited user.js

In Firefox there is a well documented way (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox) to set this up but I could not find the same for Thunderbird... why not?

Which magic file is it??

Is it mimeTypes.rdf or user.js or handlers.json ?!

Hope anyone can help.

I'm running TB 78.12.0 and trying to follow this solution: For Windows, open Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, or click the 3-bar icon at the upper right, Options/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, right-click the preference layout.css.devPixelsPerPx, Modify, and enter a value of 1.20 or 1.25 or 1.5 or 2.0...

This may or may not be immediately applicable to TB 78, but I haven't been able to find the indicated places. I'm not at all tech literate. To be usable by me, all answers would have to include express statements that more advanced users can avoid. Where is "Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor" in TB 78? Where is "Options/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor" in TB 78?

Thanks in advance for your help.

In Thunderbird all of a sudden (I assume this is a brand new feature came with a recent automatic behind-the-scenes update) every 2nd or 3rd time that I Delete an email or move a message from the Trash to somewhere else I get a pop-up suggesting "The messages you have deleted can be purged from disk. This operation will save about 21.0 MB of disk space. Select the option below to let Thunderbird do this automatically without asking you". That in itself is quite a nuisance but what really bothers me is that the default response is set to yes, Proceed. Unless I expressly click on the Cancel button Thunderbird is going to permanently delete 100% of my deleted emails, yes?? But it is vital that I retain most or many of those deleted messages for later retrieval. It truly does come in handy now and again. I periodically scour the Trash and permanently delete so many extraneous messages, but I clearly don't want to ever delete ALL of them!! I don't want this behavior as default, that Thunderbird is forever demanding this pop-up question of me and if I should accidently hit Return all of some precious resources of mine get obliterated forever! Thank you.

I updated a group list yesterday, removing some names and adding others. When I sent a group e-mail today, apparently Thunderbird used the old list. There was no way to tell before pressing "send" who actually the e-mail was going to. When I check the group list in the address book, the updated set of names is there.

Two questions: 1) how do I fix this so the updated list is the one Thunderbird uses? 2) how do I prevent this happening in the future - how can I tell the actual list of names that will receive the e-mail, before I send it? (right now it is just the group name under the recipients list)

Thank you!

Hi Mozilla Thunderbird I have an "important" folder in my Gmail. However, it is not seen in my Mozilla Thunderbird. I can access its content when I press "all mail," but having the "important" folder makes it more organized, so I don't have to open Gmail anymore.

Seeing the "Snoozed" and "Scheduled" will be cool too if Thunderbird can do that.

Kindly check the screenshot

I find the email listings, e.g. the list in inbox, a bit overwhelming in terms of the amount of information thrown at me. So I want to make it larger/view fewer email headings at a time. So the appearance is less cluttered and not to feel overwhelming in appearance. In other words, to be more visually appeasing. Alternatively, if there is a way to only have the last 14 days of inbox emails or so visible before scrolling, that could also make it more visually appealing for me.

Note: I am happy with the default font size and have no interest in any global font size adjustment.

My question is "HOW TO". When I send an email to distribution list, each name included in this distibution list appears in "to" section. So each receiving people get all details and huge list of names etc... I don't want this to happen. I do not want to use bcc too. Instead I am looking at how I could I have only distibution list name or description appearing in "to" section (for example "Sales Team" rather than each name of the Sales Team). WIth a recent update, thunderbird now puts an annoying pop up almost every time I click on the "junk" icon of a new message to send it to the junk folder. The pop up offers to purge messages from the disk, and gives "proceed" or "cancel" options. It also offers a check box to not ask again and do it automatically.

I know how to compact folders and do it on my own as needed (and through the setting for doing that automaticallywhen too much space is being used).

I've read the other thread in which it was explained that this "purging" does not delete messages from trash, but that does not tell me whether it deletes messages from the Junk folder.

I do not want any messages ever deleted automatically - I sometime need to go back and check junk or trash messages.

1) does the "purge" function delete any messages from any folders (in particular from junk or trash)? 2) how do I stop the annoying pop up asking me to "proceed" or "cancel" purging each time I click the "junk" icon to move a message to the junk folder?

Thank you very much for any help!

BTW, if "purging" through the pop up is not deleting any messages, and is just compacting folders, then the pop up is very poorly worded.

What is the fix for having my font choice and not sans-serif?

Cannot use my default font - changes to sans-serif instead of the Georgia font. Thunderbird version 78.11.0 32-bit keeps changing the font to: "sans-serif, Georgia" even when I choose Georgia or any other font.

I have sent test emails to myself and both the Sent email and Received / Inbox show sans-serif instead of the Georgia font I want. I choose my font in a new email or have it set in Tools> Options> General> Advanced My choice is ignored. All I have done is update Thunderbird. See screenshot of my settings.

I have used the email program going back to 2007 and these latest changes have made the program worse with the text way too small and the folder icon changes.

At least there is a fix for that! See the how to fix for adding back the font size and the colorful icons here: http://davidswebsite.com/Firefox_tabs/firefox_tabs.html

Dear fellow users of Thunderbird,

The title is my issue: After creating a new subfolder, all emails end up there, instead of the inbox or their appropriated folder.

Like almost everybody else, I have an email account. All emails are stored on the server of my email provider, and I have my email clients connected to it with IMAP. On my computer I use Thunderbird 78.8.1 to read my emails, and on my phone I use the native email app from LineageOS 17.1. Only my email client on my computer /Thunderbird has filters to sort all my emails in my inbox. Thus I just read my emails on my phone with the native, and read&sort emails on my computer with Thunderbird. All emails stay in my inbox, unless I open Thunderbird to sort&read my emails.

With the result that all emails stay in my inbox, unless I open Thunderbird to sort&read my emails to their appropriated (sub)folder. Only the new-new emails are staying in my inbox, and I have to set up and/or change some filters, to have these new-new emails sorted out to their appropriated (sub)folder.

But after creating a new subfolder this weekend and set three extra filters to sort some new-new emails to that new subfolder, all new emails go to that subfolder, instead of just these new-new emails. And I have checked it, neither my email client of my provider, nor the native email client of LOS have filters, just Thunderbird.

Although all filter settings are what they should be (as I have 15 filters, these are essay to check), all both known-new and new-new emails goes to the newly subfolder. Therefore I think I have found a bug in Thunderbird: After creating a new subfolder, all emails go to that new subfolder, despite all filters are set properly.

Iff I only have filters on Thunderbird, and all filters are set properly (I have checked them), then why go all known-new and new-new emails directly to that new subfolder?
