Norton 360 updated last night and now Thunderbird isn't working.

I tried logging in to Thunderbird but it kept saying my certificate was wrong and refusing to check my emails. I tried to click "add exception" but it didn't help.

It also kept saying its own homepage was a security risk and blocking it.

I figured it was Nortons new update, but have no idea how to fix it. I turned off Nortons Email Protection, which didn't help. So I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it.

But now its saying it cannot login to the outlook server when I try to add an email account. I know the information is correct, all I can guess is that Norton is blocking it somehow?

Any idea on how I can fix this?

I want to Change date order (ascending/descending) of messages when there are no headings for mail including the date column. How do I do this? I recently installed latest version of Thunderbird.

I've just started getting error messages that I need to enter my password to send emails. I've tried that but it still keeps saying unable to connect to the server. This has been happening for about two days now. I've tried updating Thunderbird, restarting Thunderbird and restarting my PC. None of this has worked. I made no changes to my system, software or home network. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I recently setup a new Windows 11 computer and installed the latest version of Thunderbird. I have two email accounts. The gmail account presented no problems. When I tried to setup the AT&T account I first obtained an authentication password and setup the account. While I can send email just fine, the account will not download any email. When I go on the AT&T server directly, there are new, sent and deleted email there. The server settings are set to SSL/TLS and OAuth2. What else do I need to setup before I can mail from the AT&T server?

I have 2 different yahoo email accounts that I access through Thunderbird. When I added the 2nd account, it changed the SMTP Server Settings "user name" of the 1st one to the same as the new one. I received an error when I tried to send an email from the 1st account, after looking at the settings, i noticed the SMTP user name was wrong. When I changed it on the 1st account, it automatically changed it on the 2nd account as well.

i SET UP THUNDERBIRD ON MY NEW COMPUTER, SUCCESSFULLY, BUT THREE DAYS AGO MY WEB HOST/SERVERS UPGRADED THEIR SYSTEM. i SPENT THREE DAYS SORTING OUT NEW SETTINGS. CONFIGURATIONS, PASSWORDS, ETC, TO GET IT ALL WORKING, IT WAS DIFFICUL BUT IT NOW WORKS. HOWEVER, I HAVE MANY FOLDERS OF MAIL ,AND MAIL NOT IN FOLDERS, IN THEUNDERBIRD ON AN OLDER COMPUTER. i WANT TO IMPORT THOSE FOLDERS OF MAIL, AND ADD THEM TO MY NEW COMPUTER THUNDERBIRD INBOX SET UP, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO IMPORT THE OLD SETTINGS AGAIN!" THAT COULD BE A DISASTER. I JUST WANT THE MAIL AND THE FOLDERS. ALL THE VIDEOS i SEE ARE TO IMPORT THE OLD SETTINGS AS WELL. CAN I JUST EXPORT/IMPORT THE ACTUAL MAIL FOLDERS AND MAIL, AND NOT SABOTAGE MY HARD WORK BY CHANGING ALL THE NEW SETTINGS AND PASSWORDS BACK TO WHAT THEY USED TO BE IN THE PROCESS?? I have been receiving emails and newsletters from a number of companies for many years. Suddenly last December many stopped coming. I have been in touch with one in particular and I am still on their mailing list. I am unable to find anywhere I can check. And before anyone says check your Junk folder. I do that every day. It has gotten to the point where I will have to stop using Thunderbird. Where can I look to find out what is wrong.

I have tried multiple times to add an email account to thunderbird in windows but I keep getting the error, "Unable to log in at server...". I know the details are correct as I'm copying and pasting them from my password manager so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I have used Thunderbird for some years with no problems, but today it has completely disappeared. The icons have gone, it is no longer listed under programs/applications, everything has just vanished. I have tried to locate Thunderbird profile folder but can't find that either. I use Windows 10 and have not had an update in the past few days. I also use Firefox and that is still fine.

I'm not a techie so don't know what else to try. I'm reluctant to install Thunderbird again because if possible I would like to recover my emails. Also, much as I like using it, there's no point if it's not reliable. I would be very grateful for your help and advice.

I have searched through forums and youtube. I can not locate an "options" or "security" tab anywhere in the menu structure. I want to change my email password to enable incoming and outgoing emails. My account is already established, I only want to change the password so Thunderbird can get and send from my email account.

Using TB 115.11.0 (32-bit) on a Windows 10 machine, with IMAP synchronization. Quite often (but not always) the synchronization of the inbox takes an extremely long time, Activity Manager showing "bringing folder inbox up to date" hanging in "downloading message 1 of ...".

I have made a Gecko IMAP:5 log and see (during this state) a pattern repeating every 2 minutes, ending in "idle mode async waiting". Then, after a long time suddenly the synchronization process finishes.

What can be wrong here?

Hi, last week my Thunderbird started slowing down and then appeared an error which caused it to freeze (i wasn't there so i don't know what error). The program was force closed and opened again, and it started re-downloading messages in the inbox (probably repairing).

For some reason it also started running all the filters and sent a ton of old emails from the inbox. I closed it again and after opening it it worked fine, and it continued downloading messages during the weekend. Today it worked fine all day until it started running the filters again. I closed it and opened it again and it continued sending emails, so i had to close it.

I'm not sure but it may have happened after making a new filter, which is strange because i have about 180 filters and this never happened before.

I'm now afraid of opening thunderbird because it may continue sending emails.

Could this be a thunderbird bug or an add-on issue? I have Send Later as well as FiltaQuilla, which i disabled the last time i opened thunderbird.

Here is a very strange problem: 1. all my notifications about interac are attributed to only one person: INTERAC e-Transfer: A money transfer from X has been automatically deposited. Under correspondents I have Y, no matter what X is. 2. When I do a global search for INTERAC, all notifications show up, but attributed to Z, different from X and Y. Further, Z only sent me an interac transfer once, maybe 10 years ago. Indeed, if I global search for Z, none of the interac notifications show up. 3. this is ONLY on Thunderbird, not at the server.

Any ideas?

A while ago my long-time hotmail account stopped working on two computer with windows 10 and one with windows 11. Last night, I looked up an article that said I have to use Oauth2 instead of normal pw. I made that change on the windows 11 machine and a popup occurred that wanted the number from the google authenticator on my phone. I gave it that and it checks mail now just fine.

This morning I went to one of the Windows 10 machines and did exactly the same. I tried some different server names online and tried some, but after a while I started getting a little window that asked my email address and pw. I put my hotmail address in and got this message:

Microsoft Accounts or personal email addresses don’t work here. Make sure you enter your work or school account (e.g. user@contoso.com). If you want to reset a Microsoft Account password, click here.

Now this is the very same hotmail email that worked on windows 11 with the same server settings last night. It still works.

Now, on the windows 10 machine with those same settings, I get the blank extra window. The extra window appears, does not populate, and disappeared.

I had no opportunity to do what worked on the windows 11 machine just last night. I cannot check mail on hotmail on this windows 10 pc. I took all the updates available to Thunderbird and firefox. TB is 115.11.1

I'm stopped. Why would it work on one pc and not another? Oauth2 on the windows 11 asked for authenticator. On the windows 10 it never asks.

Using Thunderbird 115.11.0 (64-bit) on Manjaro (Linux - fully updated). Thunderbird is a great and fantastic email client and I will always appreciate Mozilla for its principals.

I'm using IMAP and I moved some messages from a Gmail account to another IMAP account and somewhere along the way, an additional 10,000+ emails have been duplicated (about one third).

How can I systematically remove duplicates without the use of an add-on? The reason I don't wish to use an add-on is because every add-on I've found requires the following permission Have full, unrestricted access to Thunderbird, and your computer. and that is absolutely terrifying.

Are there any remedies for (systematically) handling duplicates without handing over all the keys to the kingdom?

I have added my gmail account to TB and it downloads all the folders and emails correctly, but as soon as I try to move an email with an attachment from a local folder to a folder on the gmail acount I get "Connection to server imap.gmail.com timed out" errors.

The last version of Thunderbird that I downloaded and installed was V91.0.2 in 2021. When I installed this latest upgrade my email was totally screwed up. I lost my address book and everything else. Support finally gave up I guess because they quit replying to my posts. I have been just using GMail as my email host. I think I would like to try to be able to use Thunderbird again but, I assume it would require a totally new install and I have no idea where to start. I am not a computer guru so would need my hand held to do this. Thank you

I've read a few historic suggestions about how to resolve this, but I haven't been comfortable with what solutions were suggested as they didn't seem to comprehensively answer the questions, I'm afraid.

Until this morning's attempts to resolve the "running out of disk space" warnings, I had two mail accounts on Thunderbird - my old Hotmail account and my new personal domain based account. Both accounts had old emails (3/4 years' worth) filed locally on my PC pending my satisfaction that the new mail account was working satisfactorily. To try and resolve the storage issue, I deleted all the locally stored emails from my Hotmail account from within Thunderbird, then deleted the Hotmail account, and restarted both my PC and Thunderbird.

The expected reduction on space occupied by the .thunderbird folder didn't materialise - at all.

How can I get back the space so I can continue working, please?

My email from cox.net was just moved to yahoo mail. I still have my @cox.net email. I change the server name to imap.mail.yahoo.com, port 993, SSL/TLS, normal password, and the SMTP server to smtp.mail.yahoo.com, Port 465.

I cannot download any new emails. Help!
