Hello, I have one question I wasn't able to find the answer to. What happens if I delete the IMAP folder I have stored on my computer? My e-mail address is configured as IMAP, therefore if I delete the local folder from my computer, they won't be deleted from the server as well, right? I need to clean up my computer as I am running out of storange space and this would be the solution for me as I have approx 80GB of locally stored e-mails. I just want to be sure those e-mails won't be deleted from the server as well. Thank you in advance, Oana

I copied all emails from an Old server to a New server using Thunderbird but somehow Thunderbird created duplicates. Here are the steps i did:

Thunderbird Setup Old server - setup Local Directory Thunderbird Setup New Server - setup Local Directory Switched to Offline mode, so working with all emails local copy. While in Offline, copy all emails from Old Server to New Server Switch to Online Thunderbird starts uploading all (local) New server emails to New Server End result: When in Offline mode, I have all emails in New Server (as expected) When I go into Online mode, I have all duplicates. Its seems I am then seeing all server and local copies of each email. How can I get rid of duplicates or get them to sync correctly?

I have Thunderbird installed on 2 different machines. Keeping the messages in sync is no problem as they both use IMAP. However I would also like to keep the contacts in the address books in sync too.

Is there a way to do this?

I have 4 email accounts for 4 different companies that operate out of the same office. I use Thunderbird for all of these emails and it's great for being able to check all of them at once for new emails. I had my folders mostly set up as sub folders under "Local Folders" Yesterday while attempting to create a new folder and have it a sub folder of my "local folders" all of the folders I had under "local folders" have disappeared. HELP, how do I get them back? It has all my important "keep" emails for 4 companies!!

HI,

On a multiboot Debian/Ubuntu laptop I accessed to a shared .thunderbird profile with a newer version than usual.

When back to my usual thunderbird version I got the message "A newer version of thunderbird may have made changes to your profile..." and found whole mail and parameters lost ?!

Then, reading https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/dedicated-profile-thunderbird-installation I used the --allow-downgrade option to run my usual thunderbird version and got mail and calendar back.

Great ! But I lost my whole 20 years adressbook.

I can't believe that developpers did such upgrades without previous advice or doing any backup !

Now I just hope there is a way to recover my adressbook.

I use Thunderbird 78.8.0 and Firefox 86.0 build3

I changed my gmail password in FF and can use gmail in an FF tab but TB login fails with new or old gmail password. I recently changed Thunderbird security from 0Auth2 to 'normal password'. I tried removing my account from TB and adding back - it still fails. What did I do wrong?

I have been using TB for several decades. I am recently (for several months) having a problem that I have been unable to resolve. I have two email accounts with Yahoo. They have a @bellsouth.net address which is Yahoo mail. One account gets its mail the other will not log in. I get an error message Sending of password for user XXX@bellsouth.net did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later. I am able to login to Yahoo using the same password that I have in TB. I have deleted the account and reestablished them with no success. Suggestions ????

I'm on Thunderbird 78.4.1 release. I can add an event in Thunderbird calendar, but it does not get added to Google calendar. I can add an event in Google calendar and it does get added to Thunderbird calendar. I can delete an event in Thunderbird calendar, that is also in Google calendar, and it does get deleted in Google calendar. I have 3 extensions: Provider for CalDav & CardDav, Provider for Google Calendar, & TbSync. I've tried enabling & disabling all combinations, but still cannot get Thunderbird calendar event to get added to Google calendar. Is there a post specifically for my release of Thunderbird that explains how to properly sync these calendars?

Hello Mozilla Community ! Every time I try to send a basic e-mail this error pops up. I tried to change my IP-address and it still does not work. Sending an e-mail from another PC it's still broken. Hello.

I ran Bitdefender on my MacBook Pro {macOS High Sierra, 10.13.6} and it found "viruses" in my TB profile: "Gen: Heur. Mint.Titirez.1.2A", and the program can't move it to quarantine or disinfect. There's a "message 77" somewhere in there. Has anyone come across something like this before? It's a first for me. Seems like Anydesk is involved somehow. I've used the application a couple of times.

I discovered that E-mail suddenly from my sister started to go directly to the junk file. I've moved them to the inbox several times, but each time within a few minutes the same E-mails disappear from inbox and go back to junk file. Once in the junk file they become marked as "not read" even though they were read. This only started in early Oct and I haven't notice it occurring with E-mail from anyone else...yet. I fear this will happen with any E-mail she sends and could start happening with E-mail from other people. Why is this happening and how can I make it stop? Can someone please help me? Thank you.

Thunderbird beta must have loaded at the last update. It destroyed all my history and made me start over from scratch. So I lost years of email history, my calendar data, and my address book data. It also has a back-and-forth with my ISP which I DO NOT WANT. I wish to recover all my data and not be stuck with this horrible beta. I will try to catch an email response from my ISP, but I cannot use Thunderbird to catch a response.

Very recently all attachments from any source have been converted to winmail.dat files in Thunderbird. It started a few days ago. On the gmail server they are still native format, so the problem is obviously on my Windows 10 PC. Thunderbird is my default email app. Something has changed that I can't figure out. I used thunderbird a few years and my current version is 78.6.0 (32bit) now. I set up a few accounts which included yahoo/hotmail and used normal. But early in Nov. my hotmail account cannot receive any email and other yahoo accounts can receive normally.

I checked with Microsoft community and found that I must set up two-step verification on the hotmail account. Therefore I followed the instruction to set up. Then I removed my old hotmail account in thunderbird and re-set up the hotmail account with new two-step verification generated new password in TB. But TB still displayed the message (about cannot access the hotmail server....)

I download the another email software - mailbird and setup hotmail account in that software. I type the same account name, two-step verification generated new password, the same imap/smtp server information. The mailbird can access my hotmail account and receive the email normally.

So, does anybody know what the problem is in thunderbird ? (Because I still want to use the TB for my email software)

Yesterday I opened up by email and noticed the last 2 and a half years of emails disappeared from my computer. I am a bit a hoarder with my emails and save them for reference. I use road runner for my server. When I looked on the server the old emails were still there. However, the recent emails the ones I received yesterday 12/1 and today 12/2 were no longer on the server. I checked my settings and I have set to not delete from server. So I have 2 issues 1. Emails disappeared from my local computer storage. 2. Thunderbird appears to be deleting emails from roadrunner server.

Is there option for thunderbird to manage more emails from one place? Example: We have 5 email accounts. Can administrator manage, store, track and save copy (inbox, outbox, draft, folders.......) for all accounts from one place, and still each account to work independent, to log in/out and work from remote computers and mobile phones. Whole conversation to be stored one one place or server and to have complette history on one place?

Hi, Since yesterday I have a very annoying problem. Even if I have my cursor focused on one of my folders (e.g.: Inbox), my email list is dissapearing suddenly. Happens very often, every 5-10mins or so.

To "recover" it I have to click on other folder(e.g. Sent) and then click again on the previous one. This happens to all folders, without exception.

I am using Thunderbird 68.10.0 (64-bit) on Xubuntu 18.04 and "Owl for Exchange" to connect to my company's email.

Win7 Thunderbird platform, prob error 80004005 Every time I look for Thundebird help I seem to have to log into Firefox which I don’t have it is so confusing, I have so many pw’s for mazzilla which are rejected I seem to have to make a new one each time I try to login, anyway my prob is for a long time I have been getting “server imap.gmail has disconnected” I have uninstalled all but my main email address and now I get error 80004005, so I check the SMTP settings box which has listed Google Mail-smtp.gmail.com port 465, and Mail-smtp.gmail.com (default) port 465, also my email address followed by smtp.gmail.com port 587 any help to sort this out will be most appreciated, Robert
