Until this week I easily handled my cookie preferences by NOT checking the "except cookies from sites" option. I then made exceptions to this default with the exceptions tab or through a cookie manager add-on. Since the last recent Firefox update, this no longer works. Nothing in cookie exceptions does anything. In addition to not letting me allow cookies, it will also not let me block cookies when I do check the "except cookies from sites" option. The Cookie Exceptions Do Nothing. I will appreciate any real help.

Every time I try to get to any page that uses Adobe Flash, I get the error message. I use three different computers and it does it on all of them, but only in Firefox. It is really annoying and I have tried all of the suggestions on your support page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/adobe-flash-plugin-has-crashed
How do I find out what is going on to make it STOP?

I use Firefox to do work online; It has been working fine up until yesterday and I cannot open files anymore off one of the websites I use. I tried using my laptop with Firefox and it works fine still but not on my desktop. Other browsers work such as Chrome but I prefer Firefox since I use macro Pro Express which works better in Firefox. Not sure why the program is not allowing me to open files anymore as of yesterday afternoon.

First of all, I've been having this problem in various forms for years. I stopped using Firefox years ago and switched to Pale Moon because of it, which was possibly a little better, but still had issues. I now use Waterfox and Tor Browser, and both have issues as well. So it seems to be an inherent issue with the browser itself. I had issues on XP years ago, then on 7 for years, and now on 10. Both 7 & 10 were/are 64-bit for both OS and browser. I use a lot of tabs, and currently have ~120 open in Firefox; however, currently only ~40 are actually loaded, so it's really not that many, yet the problem still exists.
Basically, one of two things happens, or both: after anywhere from less than a day to several days, the browser will slow down or it will crash. When it slows down, even small things take forever. For example, hovering over a tab will take a few to several seconds for the tab to change color indicating it's being hovered over (which also means clicking on a tab to switch to it takes as long), clicking checkboxes in my email is slow and unresponsive, and typing will freeze every few to several characters. When it gets real bad, the browser will say "Not Responding" and even fade out until it comes back, doing this very, very frequently, until it eventually just crashes.
It also doesn't seem like it could be a hardware issue, considering I've experienced this across multiple computers, and I just had Waterfox slow down with the "small" number of tabs open on my current computer (64GB RAM, Samsung 960 Evo) whereas I've had 500+ tabs open on my older computer (32GB RAM, 850 Evo). In fact, when it just happened, I checked the memory usage and it was using ~10GB, with only ~42% of my total memory being used, so it's not like the system was running low causing paging (not that that should make that much difference with my drive). And Windows and all other programs are fine whenever it happens; it's always just isolated to Firefox/Waterfox/Tor/Pale Moon. I did a garbage collection and a cycle collection, neither of which changed the memory usage or made any improvement, so I then did "minimize memory usage," which may have. I say may because the memory usage is now down to 8GB and Firefox is working well again, but I'm not sure if that's what did it. I have e10s set to 7 processes, which I understand makes it use more memory (though 8-10GB seems awfully high) but, as I said, I have more than enough. It almost seems like when the browsers reach a certain memory use, which seems to vary based on the browser and has nothing to do with the amount of memory available, they start having issues. Tor Browser seems to slow down and crash around 3-3.5GB, for example.
Also, it's doubtful it's add-ons, since I've used different ones over the years and with different browsers, I have almost all disabled in Waterfox, and I'm using even less in Tor, and only NoScript is common between them. I'm convinced the core of the browser is just not coded well enough to handle more than a small handful of tabs, but I'm hopeful somebody can provide some guidance to fix the issue, because otherwise I just don't know if I can stay with *fox, as I need stability in a browser.

After installing the update for Firefox, my ability to control my windows appears to have broken. I can't manually resize them nor can I do it the quick way by pulling them into corners or against the top of my screen. There appears to be a strange white frame around my browser when I hit the maximize window button, which also forces it into full screen. When in the size it boots up in (the size it had been pre-update), it appears to have something like another, retro window open behind and attached to it. Nothing else seems to be broken thus far, but there was some trouble trying to add photos to this post to give a visual of the problem.
I've never had a problem with Firefox or an update of it before in my life, and I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

this only started happening after the last firefox upgrade and it is only a few websites, others all login fine. I tried all different settings, deleted the username/password from firefox settings but it doesn't help. i literally have the backspace one character of username or password that is saved by firefox and reenter so the login gets highlighted. this is soooo frustrating. Or I can just enter a space in either field and then backspace and login is then high lighted. I'd send screenshots but I really don't want to sent my login information. lol.. I use pnc

New tabs are preserved but existing tabs are not opening the URL they were last closed at.
For example, If I am on page 1 of a forum/comic on a tab and I move to page 3 and then close the browser. When I open it is at page 1 again. If I then press next to page 7 as the forum/comic has moved on, read the latest and then maybe close the browser a day later, on re-opening it will open to either 1 or 3.
This is across 3 firefox installations, ON 3 PCs.
I just noticed that Open Tabs were set to sync but I actually have no tab crossover between the browsers and they don't restore unless you choose to being them over so each browser with a particular tab open should update that one on re-open, not take it from an instance that does not have that tab open.
Anyway, it is really starting to pee me of as when I re-open my home instance it is not opening Cyanide and Happiness about 30-40 commics behind the last one read.
It all worked perfectly before Quantum and none of my settings have changed.

Hi : )
I love Firefox, and I find it simply excellent. But...
in the last months Im having lots of FREQUENT crashes. I dont know why.
it often crashes (even 20-30 times a day), mostly with an empty page (#argh this page was closed), sometimes the program closes by itself, I restart it, it goes for some minutes or even less, and the the problems are back again.
I tried many solutions: I reinstalled it, I tried the safe modus (it crashes thesame way), disinstalled all the plug ins. disintalled the firefox accelerator. tried windows10 compatibility solutions, I created a new profile. i have the latest version, of course.
I have these issues ONLY with firefox. maybe is the 64 bits version? my laptop is 2 year old.
it does not get any better with the above solutions.
below the copy of a mozilla crash report (there are many I just picked one)
could you please help? what can i Do?
thanks a lot merlino

Something that I think first began happening in the last 4-6 months. I can fix it by doing the Firefox "refresh/restart" but it keeps coming back. I had to do a refresh on March 10th and now I'm having the same problem again. Basically it's unable to download anything. Email attachments, files from a website. A pdf from a facebook chat log. Firefox acts just like it does when you normally go to download a file. Brief pause, some activity in the bottom left corner. Everything appears exactly right except instead of that little extra window popping up to confirm how you want to save it or where. That window never pops up and nothing happens. No files show up in my download history or default download locations. I only use 3 add ons. Firefox Lightbeam, Flagfox and noscript. But even if I disable all of them and restart my browser the problem persists. So basically I'm opening up other browsers and copy pasting the URL's into them to quickly download stuff because my preferred browser keeps losing the ability to download things :/ and it's annoying to keep doing the restart option and toggle the few menu settings/background I have back on.

As above. FF installed the update despite the checked option to NOT install automatically. NO "old firefox" folder was created-anywhere. No other profile is present that has the old data. My adult daughter's grad school laptop. Years of bookmarks, logins and I do not know what all ARE GONE!! I allowed FF to download but NOT INSTALL-since it was not my machine and I wanted to avert any disaster (I, in fact, looked at the options first, to make sure) NOW WHAT?? Is that is a bug?? Why was there no "old FF" created? Why did it install regardless of instructions to the contrary. Is there some other place to look? She does not seem to have any automatic backups for FF profiles.

This suddenly started happening about a week ago. (~Oct 17th or so). When I go to some websites (for example, mail.yahoo.com) the tab will crash after a few seconds of browsing. I will get the "gah, your tab crashed" error. Clicking on the reload tab button reloads the page, shortly after it crashes again.
I have followed the steps outlined in the help section (for example, check for malware, install another version of Firefox, start in safe mode with add-ons disabled - I do not have any add-ons installed to begin with), and am still having the problem. I have updated to the beta version of Firefox and it's still happening.
Here is the crash report, but it is not for individual tabs. It's for when the entire program crashes.
Would really appreciate help in resolving this, as I do not want to resort to IE or Chrome for my browser!

[Added an attachment to simplify the explanation]
Suppose that I want to write the formula A1+A2 (or A1*A2). If I click A1 and then use the '+' sign. The sign it appears right after the cursor, so the cursor it's now between the A1 and the '+' sign, and the A1 text in the formula remains -I would say- selected as if nothing was written. So whatever I write or click afterwards overwrites the A1 cell reference making it impossible to write a formula.
I'm in Win10 with Firefox v69.0, both latest versions in English with a Spanish Intl. keyboard and layout. Checked in a couple of spreadsheets including a blank one.
Things that I have already tried:
- Disabled all add-ons on all tests
- Tried doing the same on Chrome, Opera, Edge (edgeHTML), Safari and FF for Mac. Only happens in FF both Mac and Win.
- It only happens when the previous cell was introduced using the mouse or the arrow keys, not if it was written.
- Only happens when using the '+' (or '*') from the regular keyboard, not the one from the numerical keypad.
- Switched to Spanish Windows and Firefox. Doesn't work either.
- Tested old Firefox versions, including, ESR.
- Changed the keyboard layout. With some of them it works (US, UK, US_Intl, FR, PL programmers) and with others doesn't (ES, DE, IT, FI and serbian). Moreover, few of them (FR and FI) works for one sign (+ or *) but not for the other.
Any ideas? Thanks

So every time I try to download a file and choose "open with" (instead of "save file"), the file opens and then Firefox crashes. It does this on any website, any file type. If I choose "Save File" instead, it downloads the file and there are no problems (it just adds the extra step of navigating to the folder where the file was downloaded to open it). I have completely uninstalled Firefox, deleted every trace of it from my PC (appdata, Program Files, registry, etc), and reinstalled. No change, still crashes every time I choose "Open with". This has been going on for at least a few months I think.
