Every 2 to 3 days sometimes longer, Firefox will randomly reset itself and close out all windows and tabs to a single window and different search engine. Restore last session is never available when this happens even though I have that selected and checked and it does work when I manually close out windows and tabs myself so i know that preference is selected. My search engine preferences are always reset and have to restore defaults as well. Mac os Big Sur 11.2
Thanks to anyone who can help me solve this sudden mystery. Long time user of firefox on macbook pro and mac towers.

Long time listener, first time caller... :) [Seriously have been using and loving Firefox/Mozilla since 2004-2005, before that was Netscape Navigator, this is the first time I can recall having an issue that I can't find already written up and solved. Hence, this post.]
I've been having some odd issues with Firefox (85.0.2 64-bit) on my Intel Mac (Big Sur 11.2.1) for the past few months, and this morning decided to dig in deeper.
The backstory: When I’ve wanted to copy and image and paste it into Apple Messages, the images sometimes don’t send because Messages doesn’t support TIFF, WEBP, or PNG formats when sending to someone who doesn’t have an iMessage account (aka using standard MMS like to Android phones). So, I then have to convert the failed image to JPG, delete the failed message, and drag the saved JPG image file into Messages and can then resend it.
The issue: Today, I discovered that when I copy a JPG image from Firefox, and paste it into Apple messages, it seems that it doesn’t send because it appears to be either copied or pasted as a different format than the original image?
To reproduce:
To simplify:
What I’ve tried: Copy & paste of same image from Firefox - Safe Mode fails - So, doubt it is something in my Firefox config Copy & paste of same image from Safari works - So, doubt it is something MacOS related However, copy & paste of same image from Chrome fails too - So, maybe it is something MacOS related?
Any suggestions on what to try next?

This problem might be unique to Mac OS, and may not even be a Firefox issue at all, but I had to try and see if there was an answer in here somewhere. I frequently use the "copy-image" command from the right-click contextual menu from within Firefox. When I paste that image into a text message for example, it's converted to a TIFF, regardless of the actual format it's in on the website I found it. Unfortunately, Android phones won't accept a text with a TIFF image, causing a delivery failure. There's more reasons why this is annoying, but that's the main one. Is there any way to make sure that copy command retains the original format of the image when copied to the clipboard? Thanks.
What can I do to fix this?

I cannot seem to control where a new bookmark folder goes. Each time I do this, it creates a subfolder inside another folder. I have to remember which folder it went into, then go into Show All Bookmarks and manually drag my new folder out so it's in the main Bookmarks Menu list.
It's only a slight inconvenience but annoying nonetheless. Even if I make sure that "Bookmarks Menu" is selected, it will still put my new folder inside another folder.
Is there a way to prevent this?

When I record screencasts, I don't want people to see what extensions I'm using. For one, it's distracting, for second, it's a privacy issue.
In chrome (iron, opera...) I can quickly drag and resize the extensions area so nothing is seen. Fast an easy.
Is there a way to do this in Firefox. I am open to extensions or keyboard shortcuts as well!
(Pinning to overflow menu is not a solution. It takes many clicks and a long time.)
Thank you for any help.

I recently bought a new mac mini. it is running os 11.12.1 and is the new mac M1 chip. I downloaded the latest version of firefox, 85.0.2 It seems to work great..... but after a few days i have noticed that when i first wake up the computer in the morning AND after i wake it up after it's gone to sleep during the day the browser doesn't work correctly. Trackpad won't scroll. Typing won't type. Clicking on a tab dosen't open the tab..... UNTIL i click on another window of the browser, then when i go back to the first window it has opened the tab i clicked on. Very odd. If i quit firefox and open it again it works. But this is not ideal.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have a solution??
Thanks, Miranda

After moving to Firefox 78 ESR, get/setCookieString() is no longer working. For example:
if (cookieService != null) { cookieService.setCookieString(cookieUri, null, "CertCheckDone=1;", null); myTrace("cookie is " + cookieService.getCookieString(cookieUri, null)); } }
Firefox is running in kiosk mode and this code was executed with a hook in browser.js. Can someone please help me with this? Are there APIs I can use in place of these or are the Webextension APIs the only way to set a cookie now? I have tried playing around and can load a temporary extension but it's removed when restarting the browser and this also has to run in kiosk mode.
I can't get into my email with Firefox. It keeps saying "There was an issue looking up your account. Tap Next to try again." I get in just fine on other browsers.

I'm using a MacBook Air with OS 10.15.7, and I've updated Firefox several times. It tells me it's running version 86. However, when I try to access certain websites like Turbotax or even a reader app, it tells me my browser is unsupported. These sites always list Firefox as a supported browser under a list of: try these browsers instead. If I click on the Firefox link they give me, it takes me to the Firefox download page. I've even tried uninstalling Firefox and re-installing it. No luck. Anyone out there have a solution?
Firefox is default browser. I switched to Crome and then back to Firefox. I have latest version. Hyperlinks won't open. How do I fix it? Thanks.

Firefox always up-to-date MacBook Air (125 TB mem) always up-to-date (5 yrs old, otherwise working perfectly). Mostly browsing social media, blogs, newspaper articles. (video streaming causes no cache problems and are generally unaffected by slow Firefox performance)
If I'm not working and doing many hours of browsing daily, I have to clear my cache 5-6 times a day, after every couple of hours. In the older Firefox, this was easier because "cache" and "cookies" were separate actions, so in three clicks (preferences, cache, clear) I could be browsing again. But in recent versions, the clear cache is now a longer process (preferences, privacy, cache, uncheck cookies, clear), then I can get back to browsing. (This seems to be a trend with a lot of new software engineers, making steps longer instead of shorter, mind boggling.)
I've already read some "answers" here that claim that clearing the cache "should" not improve performance. This is silly. Thousands of us are constantly forced to manually clear our cache to be able to use Firefox. It's tiring, and gaslighty, but I continue with Firefox because I believe in the community principles of Firefox, but instead of improvements, every update just brings more and more dysfunction). Firefox's cache not self-managing is such a huge problem that there's a dozen extensions for cache clearing, but since my last Firefox reset, I can no longer find the one I liked, and the new cache clearing extensions don't perform so well, so it's back to preferences-manual-cache clear.
Symptoms: -Page loads slow or stall -Twitter feed bounces to top of page (even with accessibility-Reduce Motion-setting) -Facebook group members list page bounces to top -Facebook post history browsing slows to a crawl (made worse by fb having removed its time selection tools, so now to see a historical post, we must scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, and Firefox eventually just stalls out) -Logins fail That's when I head over to my cache, see it's above 400 or sometimes above 500, un-click cookies (which I sometimes delete too, any time the cookies are over 100, even though I'm set to minimal cookie retention, I delete all cookies older than a week), CLEAR CACHE, then Firefox performs correctly... for a couple of hours anyway.
In theory, Firefox cache is supposed to "self-clean" of the old stuff? but I have not seen that in practice. Since this is a problem for so many people, why doesn't Firefox create an easy button to clear only the content we want, instead of total wipe? (I also reset my Firefox entirely 3-4 times a year, but I hate doing this as so many preferences get lost)
