I start firefox without any open tab, all extensions deactivated.

I can see that it automatically connects to compute.amazonaws.com and cloudfront.net. This is a gross privacy leak !!! Isn't Firefox supposed to be on top of privacy issues ? Is it expected ? Can it be removed ?

I know mozilla's website relies on amazon services (and this is a deep flaw in mozilla's privacy commitment), but there is no reason for Firefox to use it.

Beginning today I have been experiencing web sites where the content is being repeatedly BLOCKED BY GOOGLE "ADS". I get one such brutish intrusion to go away but it is promptly replaced with yet another, seems to me criminal, interference with ever seeing the content of the web site that I intended to visit. "Reporting" the objectionable nature of their covering over the relevant content of the web site has done no good whatsoever. Does anybody know HOW Firefox can be set so as to stop Google from that massive trashing of everybody else's web sites?

Hello, for some reason my firefox has utterly broke. i was running a slightly older version, but if it aint broke dont fix it right? 2 days ago everything worked fine, but then it simply stopped loading videos.

I tried the suggested "fixes" i could find by searching

clear cookies and cache- didnt work

safe mode - didnt work

refresh firefox - didnt work

new profile -didnt work

disable hardware acceleration - didnt work

disable firefox enhanced tracking - didnt work.

When they all failed I uninstalled my outdated version and downloaded the latest 77.0.1 version, this is a fresh install with zero add ons and zero stuff carried over from the previous install, but still no videos will work in firefox. they work fine in other browsers but depending on the site one of the following happens in firefox.

"No video with supported format and MIME type found"

"there was an error loading or playing the video"

" Unfortunately, your browser does not support video playback."

simply a black box where the video is suppose to be.

or I can see the thumbail but the video itself will not load or play.

I asked on reddit and uploaded a "about:support" log Log

and they are stumped

So I am looking at this web site (https://www.theroot.com/john-cornyn-blaming-coronavirus-on-chinese-culture-is-o-1842402254), and I have an account on the site and I want to read the comments which is this website (with the #) (https://www.theroot.com/john-cornyn-blaming-coronavirus-on-chinese-culture-is-o-1842402254#replies)... but I can not see the comments on the site.. nothing just the text and then the adds at the bottom.

If I were to go to my settings and delete my Cached Web Content ,,,, I can see the comments, but i have to do that for EVERY web page... not once a session... every time I go to a new page.

This does not happen with my other browser (Chrome).. this has been happening for a few months, I thought it was the web site, but no. I also tried toggling off Ipv6.. no change.

For follow up, I did some testing: - This happens when I run in safe mode (ie: without extensions) - This happens with I turn off Hardware acceleration - This happens with I toggle DNS prefetching..

Thanks in Advance

Firefox-Version: 74.0 (64-Bit) Operating system: Xubuntu 18.04

I want to participate in meetings with Teamviewer or in https://meet.jit.si. I want to enable my mike in the browser for that purpose.

I read the hint

https://support.mozilla.org/en…ng-microphone-permissions

but that does not work for me: After entering the URL into the dialogue,e.g.. https://meet.jit.si I am supposed to press ENTER. But then nothing happens!

I expect the entered URL to be added to the list below after pressing ENTER (this list was empty before in my case).

When I want to participate in such a meeting, I get a question whether I would allow the microphone to be used. Even if I allow it, meet.jit.si tells me that it could not use the microphone for an unspecified reason.

In the browser when trying to use such a connection, to the left of the URL there is a closed lock symbol and a red microphone symbol.

I have checked if the microphone works: I can record something with it using Audacity and if I activate the Pulseaudio-volume control I see a level indicator which reacts on sound heard by my microphone.

What must I do to enable the microphone for TeamViewer or other net meetings?

I'm new to Video Downloader but I seem to be having a problem with the downloads. On one occasion only I got a list up showing what I had downloaded which was great. I have no idea where that list might now be hiding or how to find it. I have selected Downloads as the place where they should all go. Today I downloaded a couple of things and when I came to play them (from Downloads) I got the titles which then disappeared immediately and then nothing else. I use Firefox browser to download. Can someone help?

This has gone on for months now, but I was patient because I figured other people would also see it and solve it. Alas, no.

I am running 74.0 (64-bit) on Win7 Home Premium SP1.

Only every other tab that I create works. The URL simply remains in the address bar and nothing can persuade the browser to contact it (e.g., Enter, ctrl-R). If I repeat whatever action caused the invalid tab, I get a new tab and it works fine. There is no difference how I open the tab: click a hyperlink in Thunderbird, ctrl-click a hyperlink on a webpage, right-click+open_in_new_tab on a hyperlink on a web page.

While we're on the every-other pattern... The browser has trouble coming up in a workable condition after boot; I currently blame that on overly-aggressive A/V behavior but it does work after I close it and restart it.

Has anyone else seen behavior like this?

I had a number of separate tabs in a few different windows (search subjects) and the machine I was working on would not boot any longer. To get this research back, I am using Sync - but none of the original windows was preserved. Instead there is just a long list of all of the tabs I had open across all the windows I had open. Why does Sync not preserve the separate windows? With well over a hundred tabs open, this makes recovering/accessing this information very tedious - as all the tabs have to be opened individually, and then sorted into separate windows again, to be bookmarked in their search subject categories/windows! Was this just an oversight, or is it technically not possible to preserve separate windows in Sync?

If it is technically not possible to preserver multiple windows of tabs in Sync, it would be much more workable if it were possible to mark these tabs in Sync to re-open them, rather than have to open them individually or all of the tabs at once from that other machine. Thanks!

Immediately after updating to version 74.0, I noticed Firefox had logged me out from all sites I usually am automatically logged into at the start of a session. It was not the first time I encountered this problem, as it had been happening at irregular intervals, and found that it was caused by firefox replacing the "cookies.sqlite" file in my profile folder with a new one, while also dubbing the old one "cookies.sqlite.bak". I always resolved the problem by:

-Closing Firefox

-Deleting the recently created "cookies.sqlite" in my profile folder

-Renaming "cookies.sqlite.bak" into "cookies.sqlite"

-(Usually) Creating a copy of the .bak file and keeping it in a folder as insurance, in case I found no recent .bak the next time it happened or it got corrupted somehow

After doing this, upon starting firefox I would find all my cookies in place and myself logged in all sites I cared about (I set it up so that firefox restores a long-running, multi-windowed session at startup).

On a side note, I was always able to know whether my "cookies.sqlite" file had been rewritten by checking its size: if it had been just created, it would always be 512 Kb; the backup .bak file is instead 1.50 Mb.

Onto the problem at hand: after updating to 74.0 and finding that I lost all cookies and logins, I repeated the process highlighted above, as usual. It didn't resolve the problem though: I still didn't recover any cookie even though I switched the "good" .bak file with the newly created "cookies.sqlite". Upon starting firefox, instead of loading my 1.50 Mb .sqlite it keeps immediately renaming it .bak and creating its own cookies.sqlite. I even tried using a slightly older .bak, one that I had successfully switched before: the result was the same.

I am at my wits' end: I checked and tried various cookie and privacy settings, but since firefox updated it seems determined to shun my old cookie backup in favor of creating its own empty, useless file. There also doesn't seem to be any recent documentation on this problem I can find. I even considered opening and checking both .sqlite and .bak files for any obvious differences, but I'm afraid I just don't know how.

Those cookies are critical for my navigation. "Major Annoyance" wouldn't even begin to describe starting a session without those.

I have no idea what state is on file as being my state of residence (I move a lot for a civilian), but I've lived at this address for the last three or four years and never had any issue with logging in to my firefox account before. I have plenty of trouble with my location WITHIN the state (Oklahoma), because apparently the only cities that exist in the state are OKC and Tulsa /eyeroll, but I've never had an issue with the state itself being misidentified. I could understand if a VPN was causing the issue, but I'm not using a VPN (I know, I probably should, but imagine the login issue THEN! lol). Thanks in advance for any help.
