I'm a radio broadcaster who gets much of my music for broadcast from artist sites. These are legitimate downloads because artists freely post their music for me, and others in their net communities. Download Helper normally works on Bandcamp, SoundCloud and other streaming sites, but completely ceased working as of this week. The Download Helper icon spins and the song is displayed (although not always), and when I choose to download it, a number appears next to the icon (indicating a download is in progress), but nothing happens (no download ever happens). A check reveals the download que remains empty.
My FireFox version is 36.0.1 and OS is WinXP. Please help ASAP!

Windows 7 Home Premium / Service Pack 1 Firefox is up to date.
Consistently getting a memory dump / blue screen while playing PCH games. Keep my system as clean as humanly possible: cookies, cache, malware, registry and so on.
I have done a memory diagnostic: no problem there. Did misconfig disabling all but Microsoft. The problem continued.
Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Didn't help. Many, many times reinstalling Firefox. Doesn't help.
Strange as this is (and aggravating), when the system restarts any websites in use return to the same position at the time of the crash.
I have copied the crash reports. All say the same as below:

Firefox has crashed 1-3 times per day for about 3/4 of a year. There is no particular activity occurring. It does not crash on start up.
I generated the crash reports. When I right clicked on the most recent, I received a "Page not found" from Mozilla Crash reports. I tried others preceding--same result.
So, I generated the text files of the crash reports, found the most recent one, and here we are.
I use Firefox very frequently in my work as a doctor, and feel a strong allegiance to it.

Always had the green padlock until this update. When I click on the orange triangle it tells me: “Connection partially encrypted. Parts of the page you are viewing are not encrypted or the encryption is not strong enough before being transmitted over the internet. Information sent over the internet without encryption can be seen by other people while it is in transit.” Yet when I open the same page in Internet Explorer there’s a gold padlock which states “ fully encrypted” when clicked and certificate issued by VeriSign. Can others please confirm that that they also cannot access the fully encrypted page on https://my.if.com/Security/Auth/Logon via Firefox 36.0.1 so that I can be sure the problem solely relates to this latest Firefox version? If so, is there any solution other than to use I.E. and hope the next update fixes the bug?

I have been getting more and more familiar with the about:config settings. On an almost daily basis, I head there to reset the browser.newtab.url. It works to return the page, but when I do a reboot (or my computer does it for me while updating), it goes blank again. This was going on for a while, then my browser was hijacked by Yahoo. I used the conventional way of changing it, and that failing, began looking at the about:config settings. I noticed a lot of things set to Yahoo. I tried to reset them to my home page (google) to no avail.
I'm wondering if there is just some general problem with Mozilla/Firefox keeping any settings I give it. Once-upon-a-time I used to use Google as my home page and newtab page. That setting stopped sticking. I liked Mozilla to open to my homepage, but now it just opens to the pages that were open when I last close it. I'm beginning to feel that it has a mind of it's own!!!
Latest update (around 6 Mar 2015) has increased startup time from about 5 seconds to 55 seconds - why???

About 11:00 am on 3/6/15 sent two email. Recipients notified us that they were in Greek letters. Also, when I tried to copy email to Word Docs, they appeared in Greek letters also. Last night about 10 pm Firefox displayed a "Crashed" notice. Just after, able to use Firefox again. So . . . how do we get our emails that we are sending out in English(US) to be seen by the recipients in same. Thank you.

I've closed and opened....they STILL do not appear! I only get add Moz support and change settings. I use these regularly, and feel like in the night someone has accessed my personal laptop and deleted files! Please correct immediatey or tell me how to revert back to previous.

Only trigger I can seem to find is something mentioned in another help ticket that sounds like a slightly different problem. When Firefox is open for a while without loading any web pages, it suddenly stops being able to do so. When I attempt to load a new page it displays the loading circle and a white page, but no more. The browser is not frozen; scrolling through pre-opened tabs and browsing pre-opened pages works fine.
Restarting my computer is so far the only way to "fix" this, but it only works until the next time it occurs.
I have tried clearing my cache, restarting Firefox, and refreshing Firefox to no avail. If I close Firefox after the issue occurs, I cannot re-open it without restarting my computer. It tells me that Firefox is already running but not responding. When I go into Task Manager, Firefox is not there. It's not running.
This issue is exclusive to Firefox. I have Chrome as a backup browser which works just fine when Firefox is not.
Every time I open new tab I get McAfee warning about http://homepage-web.com/?s=online&m=tab

I'm sick of "deals4u" ads showing up on my browsers obstructing the view of webpages. They're worse than popups, which can at least be blocked. I've tried their uninstall link, without success. I removed the few cookies I could identify with it. Malwarebytes doesn't find it. The few instructions I've found are confusing (or for someone with far greater expertise) or are just ads for tools that look kind of shady (i.e. spyhunter, whose "checkmark" status shown on their website with West Coast Labs is bogus). I am a fairly competent user, but definitely not a techie, so I need simple instructions or a recommendation for a safe tool to use to remove it.
