My Home Page startup session is saved in the options preferences. But it isn't returning to my personalized default. It adds tabs from last session. I thought they were supposed to disappear. They have done that for years, but not now. Have you changed it? Should I be closing each unwanted tab before ending a session?

Do password files differ between Firefox versions?

The page "Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data" (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data) seems to give different information (without identifying that that's what it's doing) depending on the Firefox version being used.

With v27, it says that signons.sqlite is one (1) of two (2) files where passwords are kept, but, with v39, it says that logins.json is such a file. (Both say that key3.db is the other file.)

First, why do the descriptions differ...and without explanation?

Second, if I'm going from a v39 machine to a v27 machine, and want my passwords to transfer over, I THOUGHT that backing up, and restoring, my profile would do the job, but, because of what I wrote above, it didn't.

Can you please advise me/us about this? Why are the files different? Why does the same page say different things without noting that that's what it's doing? How can I bring v39 passwords to a v27 machine?

Thanks, Bram Weiser

Recently I updated to Firefox 27 and noticed really horrible performance (Task Manager shows FF pegging one core, frequent "Firefox is not responding messages", even lagging keystrokes in the URL bar). This is on an Ideapad s205 (AMD E450 APU, Win 7 x64, 8GB RAM, SSD) that has always had pretty decent web browsing performance for a low-end machine.

Initially I blamed FF because the poor performance coincided with the update to version 27, but now I believe the root cause to be a recent Microsoft update. The reason for that is that my wife has a laptop with an even lower-end APU (C60 APU, 5400rpm hard drive, 4GB RAM, Win 7 x64), and she was getting much better performance with FF27 until I applied a backlog of some 90+ updates. Now she's suffering from the same poor performance I am and she's pretty p*ssed at me.

Interestingly, I have two WIn 7 x64 Intel desktops that also have FF 27 and are fully patched, and the performance is just fine. Perhaps this problem is specific to AMD APUs.

Any thoughts? I've tried turning off the Azure backend per some comments in this forum, but that made little or no difference.

Thanks!

For the last several days Firefox has been running really slow. When I open a new window it takes about 20 - 30 seconds to open one or if I try to load a site with flash (say such as youtube) it takes about about the time to load the site and you can't click anything, such as back, address bar or even the X to close the window.

I've scanned for viruses and found nothing. I thought it was my computer when Firefox first started to go slow but I opened up Opera and Saferi to see what they was like and they are fine. Runs very smoothly. If I restart the computer Firefox will work great for say 2 hours before it starts to slowly slow down again over time (by about 5 hours later it's uber slow again!). I've also reset Firefox which again gave the same result as restarting the computer, fine for a couple of hours before starting to slow down again. Reinstalled Firefox but there again it's fine for a couple of hours.

I don't know what to do. Firefox is my main browser but I can't keep using it like this because it's taking forever to do anything.

Hi, I am not IT savvy, so hope I can explain this well enough.

I use Firefox as my default web browser, but reluctantly feel I need to move away because I cannot resolve a problem I have with Adobe Flash crashing regularly every day.

I have restarted Firefox, but the problem is still there. Same when I restart my laptop.

I have even reset Firefox, following instructions in a thread I found on here. The problem went away for a few days, but is back again. This is so frustrating. Friends tell me to give up on Firefox, like they have, but I'd rather find a solution if I can.

I don't watch videos, so typical sites I have problems with are eBay, Facebook and 'Street View' on Google Maps.

Other info......I am in the UK and my laptop uses Windows 7. I have checked the Firefox Plug-In page, and all my plug-ins are showing as up to date.

Please help.

So, my most used action within Firefox was utilizing the middle mouse button in order to open a new tab on a link. Now suddenly after a format on my PC, the middle mouse button refuses to be acknowledged at all by Firefox; can't even hold it down to auto scroll or anything. I want to confirm that the button works on other programs and games with no issues. Using using ctrl/shift+click is not optimal but what I'm doing so far. I'm using the latest version, here's a list of the things I've already tried:

- Checking out all the related about:config's with "middle" as searching field.

- Made a new profile and reset Firefox numerous times

- Disabled/removed addons/extensions

- Wiped and installed Firefox completely - Tried with no addons

- Checked options

So far no luck at all, even tried some other browsers such as aurora & chrome with the same issue essentially.

FF 27.0.1 on Linux Mint 16 XFCE, up to date.

I have my Preferences set to 'Show my home page'.

Every time I close FF with the X in the top left corner, it comes up and asks me "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?". I check the box not to be asked next time, and have tried both Save and Quit, and just Quit. When I open the browser again it seems to randomly decide whether to open all the tabs I had last time, or sometimes (rarely) just my home page tabs.

I don't want it to open all the tabs I had open, and I don't want the question every time I quit FF. I've used FF for years with XP, but I am new to Mint.

Here is my site: http://www.naaip.org/

I have lots of pdfs there which was working fine before but from few days Firefox is not able to open them. It starts loading than stops.

Here are few of them:

http://www.naaip.org/gerber.pdf http://www.naaip.org/forethought.pdf http://www.naaip.org/cigna.pdf

And many more...

First I tried fixing the pdfs thinking that they might got damaged. But when I checked the same pdfs in Chrome all are working fine. So it means pdfs are fine.

I had spend lot of my time in finding solution to this but find nothing.

One more thing I have uploaded the same pdf to my other site and it opens fine in Firefox. Here it is: http://www.bestmedicaresupplement.com/gerber.pdf

Please anyone help to find the solution to it. Looks like there might be some problem in my hosting but if anyone knows something about it, it will be a quick tick for me to solve it.

My location bar only shows "Bookmark this page" and the history drop-down on the right-hand side. It used to have a button that switched between Refresh and Stop depending on whether a page was currently loading, which is no longer there.

It happened after restarting FF to install an add-on. I'm not sure if FF updated at the same time; it might have. I'm now on 27.0.1 and I had installed HideMyAss, which installed its own toolbar button, and in addition the Refresh and Stop buttons were no longer in my URL bar, but now they were separate buttons in the Navigation Toolbar.

I cannot get them to go back into the URL bar. I have uninstalled the add-on, I have tried to drag-n-drop the buttons onto the URL bar, and I have tried "Restore default set" in the toolbar customization dialog. None of these work.

I've been anticipating the new update I was told would be today, and it was. After I updated it to Version 28 I opened FF and it immediately crashed. I sent in a crash report, and did that three other times. So now, sadly, I'm back to version 27 that stinks as well.

Anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong with it?? I checked my addons for compatibility and said they were fine. I did nothing different except update to newest version. Not sure what else to do. I refuse to uninstall anything at this point, although that seems to be the basic "advice" given here.....it never solves my problems LOL

So, what next?? And thanks for any help.

I have Windows 7
