Hi. Firefox is my main browser and I use it also on my business corporate laptop under Win64bit. Only recently each time Firefox needs to install an update, a window pops up asking for permission of the admin (and I am not the admin), so I have to call the IT dpt and ask an admin to log in and give its authorization. The IT team told me that it's not a problem of the corporate firewall and it's up to Mozilla to set the update process so as to avoid asking a high level authorization. This problem is becoming very annoying, as the Firefox updates are usually very frequent. Can you do something to fix it? Thanks, kind regards Fabrizio Venice, Italy

Dialing a phone number with Google Voice worked before, but now fails. It prompts me to Register for that feature https://voice.google.com/calls?forceBanner=tel-registration but when I click on that link, nothing happens. [See first picture]

Settings | General | Applications seems to show 'tel' is assigned to Google Voice [see second picture] so as per a Google Voice help dialog, I changed it it 'always ask' [third picture]. This did no solve the problem.

Firefox crashing and BSODs

Hello,

Today my Firefox program has crashed again and I thought, now it's time to handle because I am sick of it. What I noticed today is that when I was watching a YouTube video, my monitor screen went black for a second and then came back again, but it turned into green screen of pixels, instead of the actual video. I do not know if this has to do with my GPU (hardware side).

I have had several BSOD with all different stop codes in the past as well, like BAD_POOL_CALLER (most recent) and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION.

Furthermore, I've also had "SYSTEM THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED what failed:nvlddmkm.sys", "EXCEPTION_ON_INVALID STACK" and "CACHE_MANAGER" stop codes before, but I haven't seen those anymore after formatting my SSD (went back to W10 after so big issue with W11 which caused me to format my SSD, long story).

I used the WhoCrashed program to determine what the stop codes meant, with further detail (dumps are in the attachment). (If this is relevant:) My first ever screenshotted BSOD, of when it started happening like basically every month, was on September 18, with stop code: "ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY, what failed: dxgmms2.sys". I've also checked the Windows\\System32\\DriverStore\\FileRepository for any weird, duplicate or suspicious folders whatsoever.

I have: - Ran MemTest86 (4 passes) - Ran Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool (no issues found) - Ran GPU test (Heaven benchmark 4.0) (GPU temp below 80 degrees (around 60-70C at 21C room temp) (no error codes in device manager > GPU > properties) - Reset this PC (had to cuz W11 just messed everything up and I had to format the SSD, and went to W10 Pro). I was really hoping for this to fix everything, since it removes like literally everything.

My specs: - CPU: R5 2600X - GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1660ti OC - RAM: 2x 2x8gb ram Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4-3000 CL15 kit - PSU: BitFenix Formula 550 W ATX

Crash reports: bp-764602db-eac3-4a23-98ec-a1b1d0221115 15/11/2022, 13:37 bp-134f610d-d1d1-476e-b7ae-6c8620221110 10/11/2022, 22:56

As you can see, I've done a lot to solve it myself, but the fact I have come this far to get help from this forum tells me that this is something else. Even (third party) anti-malware programs (malwarebytes, adwcleaner, windows defender) haven't found any viruses. If anyone could help me, then I'd really appreciate that.

Kinds regards,

My version of Firefox started to malfunction.

Found the latest version of Firefox available, and installed it.

Resulted in total loss of data, I lost all bookmarks, passwords, and add-ons.

A folder called "Old Firefox data" was created on my desktop.

I'm experiencing the same problem as described by the user in the post at [1] --- in short, every time I delete an old certificate from my browser, it appears to be successful, but then when I refresh firefox I see that the old certificate is in fact still there. I tried the solutions described in [1] (deleting the cert9.db and cert8.db with firefox closed) but my problem persists. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm using Firefox 106.0.5 on Mac OS Catalina.

Does anyone make an effort to survey users before making changes? Some changes are just a bother but others are really imposing costs.

I see the disappearing HOME icon is a recurring problem. So, fine, I've restored the button. But my complicated half-dozen links have also disappeared and I have to reconstruct my HOME pages. Mine are complicated since they are a series of graphs (from Yahoo Finance), each with specific different parameters. It will really take me time to reconstruct this and I really resent that.

Similarly, where on earth did my plug-ins/extensions go? Again, they haven't just disappeared from the toolbar. Once I locate the icon and restore it, I find that they've disappeared from TOOLS > ADD-ONS AND THEMES. I have to go download them again? Why?

Naturally, all of this just happens to land on my plate on a very bad morning. Lesson learned: I'll make a bookmark folder to duplicate what the HOME button should bring up.

What is the point of all this?

Thanks for listening,

Every single time I watch longer videos, but especially livestreams, it ends up clogging up to 8GB of ram and then starts buffering, and uses sometimes upwards of 60% CPU.

I've -tried updating graphics drivers, -opening safe mode and watching from there, -turning off all addons and restarting, -turning off hardware acceleration, -installing h264ify

I'm kind of out of ideas. I hate this, I just want to be able to watch youtube normally. Please help.

Firefox crashes with the same issue as before (https://support.mozilla.org/hu/questions/1395270), but with two minor differences. I'm now using the latest version of ExplorerPatcher and Firefox works fine in safe mode. I tried disabling all the add-ons, themes and extensions in while in safe mode and then launch Firefox, but it didn't work. The developer made the issues and discussion sections read only on the project's GitHub page, so I'm unable to contact them. Here are the logs about the most recent crashes:

Hello

I've deleted my cookies and other data by mistake. I had a gmail account logged in(meaning when i open gmail, browser doesn't ask password etc.) now after i delete this data, i can't access to my gmail(forgot password and it wasn't connected to any kind of recovery yet. New gmail).

I somehow managed to get my previous firefox data using shadow explorer. when i follow 'Recovering important data from an old profile' guide, it doesn't work. Ex: my old cookies.sqlite file is 1.5MB. when i copy it to new profile i see it is copied. But whenever i open firefox i see cookies.sqlite new size is 96kb and i don't see any old data.

I tried almost everything on this link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile I copied whole folders(both roaming and local). I copied only important files such as login.json or cookies.sqlite etc. Nothing works.

What am i missing here?
